What are these skates?

Recommended Posts

Bauer took over the Micron name, right?

I could never understand how Bure could skate with all that tape on his skates. His forward flex must've been severely limited.

You'd think so...but man, could he skate.

It's only on the tendon guard and tongue, not on the actual skate itself.

Not unlike the way Kovalev tapes his ankles.

Its a sad day for hockey historians when the Medial Power Clip is not recognized immediately. Those really made you skate faster. (At least that's what I told my parents when I was in middle school so they would buy me a pair)

Yeah, but even so, with that tendon guard not moving it still seems really restrictive.

Either way it worked for him...Bure moved like the wind.

And the bonus round questions: What did the Medial Power Clip provide? What was its purpose?

It was supposed to more efficiently transfer the power from your stride to the blade (and the ice). Because little pieces of plastic can do that.

I have a team mate that still uses Microns. Before a game he sloshes water inside the boot to get it to fit better.

Afinogenov and Gaborik both do the same thing, probably the only two skaters in the game today even comparable to Pavel. Pattern?

Dude, those 3 skate with what looks like a cast like setup, for the life of me I don't understand how they do it but they all can skate fast and shift the other guys easy so theres something to it... One thing tho, i never saw a guy with that setup that was a good two way player...

yes, they had a AIR line. I had Bauer Air 70's and 90's. Great fitting skates.. To bad they are not still around.

If i remember it correctly, Bauer ditched the air's to make way for the Vapor line.

I had a pair of those. I had black tuuks though. My rollerblades have the exact same boot design. I got them right about the time Bauer was making the Air90 line.

it was micron mega air 10-90 (i think jr)

No, the 10-90 was the predecessor to the Air 90. Bure wore the Air 90 which ended up being the Bauer Air 90 after the Canstar buyout, and then it was gone.

Peter - would've answered that but I was busy building the store...Oberon got it right...
