Square or not, why are you all acting like this is some sort of revelatory observation. Easton and other companies have been painting sticks to expose their top products for years.

Not when that point has been talked about ad nauseum yet still seems like an "OMG WTF NOOOOO!" subject when it comes about. In more recent years it's happened with the pro "Si-Cores;" Innovative "Fedorov" shafts; Warrior Dolomites at some retail store, etc.

this toy drive is ridiculous, almost didn't believe it at first. i almost dropped $220 on this stick and i did drop $160 on an old cnt that went directly in the pocket of some d-bag on ebay, could have had 2 of these and some kid could have enjoyed a nice gift....shit, i have to stop spending my time in the roller hockey forum. Easton has some smart marketing people, not only is this a great cause, makes them look great, but I'll never buy a stick from a different company again, and I'm sure that's the case for quite a few people. They should really advertise this more, i realize that too much exposure of the event could cause some major production/logistical issues, but the only way anyone would know is if they came on the site or regularly posted in the forum. cool stuff

The best charity is anonymous. As for other companies, I am sure they all do something charitable around this time of year. That is just the way companies are.

What Easton is doing is called a "tax write-off."

But many companies/people do stuff like that. Bill Gates being the shadiest, the charity he donates the most money to is his own which is a charity that puts microsoft computers in classrooms.

yeah i understand they can write this off, but something like this where i doubt if more than a few hundred people are participating or even less is not going to make a difference in the bottom line for easton sports. Where as it is going to make a difference for a few hundred kids lives, and I don't think there's much to worry about in terms of misappropriating handheld parker brother games. To call Bill Gates shady is going a little far, it's tough to please everyone when you're the richest person in the world. Would you have him put Apple computers in classrooms? Who cares as long as it's a computer in a classroom. All things considered i doubt if he's making more of a personal profit while donating than if he would if he just invested the money on his own behalf, same goes for warren buffet, even more so. As for anonymity, same thing, when money or gifts go to someone who wouldn't have them otherwise does the subsequent inflation of someones ego make the gift any less valuable or taint it in any way? who cares if the person donating ends up in people magazine. Easton's good in my book.

Back on topic, I saw the S17 on sale at the Blueline inside the Easton Chiller in the Columbus area. Looks and feels amazing, I'll tell you that.

Until my old Itech 5005 gives out on me, I won't have the need to buy one though.

After using the S17 last night, I am not overly impressed. 100 flex feels very whippy compared to the XXXX in 102. I would say the stick is almost too light, at least for my liking.

As a matter of fact, I would say i am pretty disappointed in the S17. Granted I only used it for warm ups, and yes, at a mens league game that mean about 5 minutes of shooting and passing, but it just doesn't feel right to me. I am going to try to work it in on ice when I coach the team of peewees I coach and see if maybe it just takes some getting use to, but again, the XXXX i have set the bar pretty high, so i do not have high hopes for ever making the S17 a regular in my hands.

I must have picked up a dud, mine feels very stiff for a 100.

yea its definatly more whippy then my CNT 100. Almost feels like a 85. I would think you were in the 5'8 5'9 range it would be nice, But 6"1 at pretty much full length seems too whippy..ill see what it does when i take the clapper... hopefully at todays practice.

It almost feels like when I first went from a zbubble with wood blade to the first synergy all over again..

I also chose the least grippy/ stiffest feeling one of the batch at the local hockey store... When I shoot a snapshot it makes a noise...

I picked one up today, but I haven't been able to try it on the ice. I got a Sakic 100 and cut off about an inch, and it feels pretty good to me. Not too stiff, not too whippy, just about right it seems. I can't wait until I get to try it out. Until then, I just have to sleep with the stick and maybe I'll have a dream about using it.

Is anyone able to confirm that it is or isnt possible to get take part in the toy drive from Aus ie. will they post a stick to Australia for me? Tried asking on the easton forum but havent got a response so was hoping someone here could help just from experience.

Also can anyone recommend an appropriate online toy store situated in the US? Maybe you guys know of one that stands out above the others in terms of reliability, customer service etc.

jonow, the only person on the Easton forum that can answer your question is HkyGuru and he seems to be on hiatus at the moment.

If you choose to send toys from a US based e-tailer, go to Amazon.com and assemble your toys and ship them as a gift to HkyGuy's address. Do you have any friends/relatives that can receive the stick in the US/Can? I don't know how you could get your info into the box for him to have when he receives it.

Mine's going out today, a nice collection of handheld games from Wally World. Video poker, Tetris, Yahtzee, Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?, Sudoku, one or two more. Realized I didn't specify grip/non, so I guess I'll just be surprised when it arrives.

Wow...that's a lot of handhelds!

That's what sucks about Canadian stores...I bought 3 handheld games (2 20Q Junior and 1 Tetris game) and it came out to 96$ with taxes. It's ridiculous. I felt bad about sending in only 3 games but...

Shipped mine this morning with Xpresspost. Can't wait to get the S17....in like 3 months from now :P
