2008 Washington Capitals thread

That was a horrible mess. The only good thing was Gabbys post game interview.

"Why did you not pull Olie?"

He didn't deserve to be pulled, the first goal was a lucky skip over the shoulder....the third goal was just a great shot. The team hung him out to dry tonight.

"Do you think having the team on the bench, then wait 20 minutes for the ceremony hurt the team?"

The other team had to sit there too. You can use that as an excuse if you are looking for one, but that's all it is, an excuse. We stunk out there tonight, from Ovey to Brash, this was a team loss.

Gotta love the honesty

Bad loss at a bad time.

Yep, whatever sliver of hope I had was definately dampened last night.

Stranger things have happened, but I can't see the caps in the playoffs now after that

Bad luck to catch Chicago on Tony O night but it is still a team that they had to and should have beat if they wanted that 8th or 3rd spot.

Ovie's cross-ice run at Sharp at the end of his last shift was borderline punkish.

I think it would be a quick exit for the Caps should they make the playoffs. Too little playoff experience on that roster, especially on the blueline. Perhaps in a year or two, provided they get a couple rounds of experience maybe this year and next.

Experience or not, they've still had their way with top teams Ottawa and Montreal this season. They have a goaltender who has been to the finals, and Fedorov knows what it takes to win. The defencemen may be inexperienced, but they play playoff hockey - hard hitting. I think they could produce a first round upset, but I don't expect them to go much farther than the second round.

I would be happy if they just get there.

As bruce boudreau said in his morning go around with the press..(from tarik at the post)

As far as the NHL goes, this is Super Tuesday," said Boudreau, who has worked out playoff scenarios for every team that's fighting to get into the postseason. (I hope you enjoyed that one as much as I did.)

"You look at the ramifications that can happen," he added. "The pertinent matchups are there. If Philly beats New York, they're tied. Us and Carolina. Florida and Tampa."

In other words, tonight is absolutely huge

If the caps win tonight, it will be absolutely no thanks to the god damned ref.

I know I have the caps fan bias, but if you are just watching as a casual observer with no feelings for either team, you can't honestly say that reffing tonight is fair and square

Hmm trailing with 4 points to Philly and 2 (+a game) to Boston...

5 games remaining. My guess is caps have to win all 5, or atleast 4 and then a major meltdown from either philly or boston.

I didn't check the schedule myself, but I've heard that both Boston and Philly have a pretty tough schedule.

The caps have very winable games the rest of the way, with the biggest challenge being 4/1/08 against the Canes.

That being said, the Caps seem to have a little trouble with FLA.

The bruins play the leafs and devils once and the sabres and senators twice.

The flyers play the isles once, and the devils and pens twice

The caps play the canes once more, and the lightning and panthers twice.

I would clearly take the caps schedule, but can they get it done is the question.

They have had trouble with the panthers, and as well as they have played of late, could really play spoilers.

But all said, I would definately want the caps schedule compared to the others

And the same old refrain.............the refs are always against [insert team name here].

Did you watch the game?

ovechkin pushed his way past (can't remember who) and was called for roughing.

Mike Green was breaking between 2 d-men, was blatantly tripped with the stick, no call.

Poti was boarded, no call.

I know it's always the losing team who complains about the refs, but the caps won, the reffing still sucking huge donkey balls
