Kovalev bringing the Habs back to the top!

Recommended Posts

Any Habs fans agree with me?

He's simply amazing so far this year and I think he's the biggest reason why the Habs are second in the east so far. 7 goals in 12 games and controlling the flow of a game like no one else in the league.

If only he can continue this way all year long, he'll be the star in Montreal.

Anyway, Go Habs Go, in Kovy we trust.

He has a lot to do with it...but I won't go so far as to lay ALL the success the Habs have had so far on Kovy. Koivu has been awesome...the D has been much stronger than many expected. The "grinders" (Chipchura, Begin, Kostopolus, Smolinski) have all played very well.

But, all of your praise of Kovalev's skill over the last few years is finally being displayed game in and game out. I love when he gets himself at the side boards on PP....if he DECIDES that he is going to score...he does! It's been amazing to watch. And more impressive than that is the way he's battling for pucks. To borrow a phrase from Pierre McGuire...he's been a MONSTER on most nights.

I like this expression ''monster'' for Kovalev.

Because when I watch him some night, he looks like a monster, he's scary to watch, to be that talented, to be that strong on the puck and to skate that well while being 225 pounds is just monsterISH. And BTW, he might have the best wrist shot in the league.

To borrow a phrase from Pierre McGuire...he's been a MONSTER on most nights.

And BTW, he might have the best wrist shot in the league.

No arguement there. Not just hard and fast (release)...but incredibly accurate. Does he EVER miss the net?

This is clearly a caps bias, but I would put Semins wrister up there with the best of them

Check out his second goal

Look at the third goal here.

I'm not saying he's the best, but if you haven't seen much of him you are missing out on an amazing talent. Puck handling and wrist shots, he has to be close to the top of the list in my opinion

cost me a mint when he missed the shootout against atlanta

either way great player, def in the top 3 in the league with skills, his attitude needs a serious adjustment though

semin is good as well, but kovalev is the most talented guy in the league, and i agree with kovy_feds_ribo.....hes incredible.

Inoticed this with a lot of europeans, especially russians. They dont use the snap shot as much as the writs shot. off wing the prefer a wrist shot from a one legged snap. This past summer i shot pucks outdoors wtih a guy from russia. he never practiced the snap shot, only wrist shots and one legged wrist shots, said he doesnt beleive in the snap shot as the wrist shot is more acurate

i think it might have to do with their large curves as well, and more wrist roll would be needed for snap shots.

Id have to argue that, theres a handful of guys having a better season. Look what Zetterberg is doing 12 goals, 12 assists in 14 games.

I agree Kovy is playing pretty damn good hockey these days. I liked the fact that he admitted he changed his attitude this year. He said he watched some of his Rangers game and took notes. However i'm far from convinced that he's in the elite of the league, i'm talking about impact players like Lecavalier, Jokinen, Iginla....Crosby.

Still, i can't not like Kovalev when he's playing this kind of hockey. Hope he keeps it up.

Kovy is playing amazing this year. I want too see a hat trick vs the Leafs since he has not played that good against them lately.

and when he finally gets a winger on his line he will soon have the assists to match his goals

Ummm.......what?

A lot of people would agree with what he said. Kovalev has a skill set that is truly elite, even if he doesn't show it all the time.

He's a pretty damn good player, and is in the elite class for sure. I just disagree with the statement that he's the best player in the league right now.

He is a great hockey player that is for sure. I know that he gets a lot of slack for looking like he is not trying but he is scoring like crazy this year. Do you think it may be because he wants to get traded out of Montreal?

I think he was referring to his skills. If you ever have the chance to see him practice live don't miss it.

He's an undeniable talent...but c'mon, he had 18 goals last year. 18!?!? I'd list some of the players who finished with more than that, but frankly it's embarassing.

He's had what, two or three 30 goal seasons? You got to be kidding me.

I admit I am mezmerized watching him play sometimes, but in the back of my mind I can never get over the stunning lack of production from a player of his calibre.
