Mitchell Report first leak

Recommended Posts

The biggest surprise on the list for me would be Wally Joyner. He would seem to have more respect for the game than the others.

Gregg Zaun? You'd think he'd be better if he was on Performance Enhancers? no?

Guys just trying to hang in at the end of the career and marginal players trying to stay in the big leagues don't surprise me. I can understand why they would do it. Clear cut HOF'ers? I just can't fathom why they would do it.

So, what is worse in baseball history...the Black Sox throwing a WS or this report naming this many players as steroid users and the guy that did the reports saying it "...only scratches the surface"

Pretty much everyone's on steroids. I think it would have been BETTER if they uncovered all the names. Then people would understand that the playing field is more or less even. Elevated, but level.

I know. I'd really hate to see him try to throw out baserunners if he wasn't on the juice.

Alot of the names on that list did not come as a suprise, but one player who i did not suspect is Miguel Tejada.

Anyone that played in Oakland or Cleveland shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. I wouldn't be surprised if Manny, Belle, Lofton, Ben Grieve and others were among those to have used certain substances.

I heard some former player somewhat defending McNamee on Jim Rome or maybe ESPN radio today. I didn't catch the guy's name. He was saying McNamee wasn't pushing performance enhancers. But he would assist in acquiring and administering them. This player said he approached McNamee after being hurt and whatnot and that McNamee told him how it works, the myths, and that under McNamee's training program, they were completely unnecessary. However, he would rather get involved and make sure the player was getting the right stuff and not some horse 'roids and always make sure the stuff was administered correctly. The player said he never went through with it because of the legal ramifications.

Either way, I don't care if performance enhancers weren't against baseball's rules. They were against the law and therefore trump whatever lack of policy MLB had. On the flip side, how is it that cortizone shots aren't on that same list? Anywho, I'm dissapointed but not at all suprised to see a lot of big names on the list.

I'm one of a growing number of Yankee fans that thinks Derek Jeter is a huge douche bag.

He comes out today to defend Clemens and say he stands behind Pettitte. Yet in 2006 he couldn't say two words defending ARod when the entire world thought a .900+ ops player was Victor Diaz levels of bad.

Clemens is hardly a shocker. A fat and out of shape Roger isn't re-upped in Boston in the fall and a powerful, dominating Roger shows up for Blue Jays spring training. People did that math years ago.

I think his drug use started when he got to TO and started playing with Jose...I haven't read the whole report...butt that's what I skimmed through.

Roger Clemons is clean...

I think anyways

After Clemens made his official statement yesterday, McNamee claims he has viles and syringes containing the HGH and remnants of Clemens blood. My question is....why do ya keep a bunch of used syringes around? i can't imagine he thought he could ever need them in this kind of situation at that present time. If it's true Mr. Clemens is in some deep shit

I don't think it'll stick. I'm pretty sure Clemens is 100% sure nothing will stick, hence all the public appearances.

There would be questions raised about the "quality" and validity of anything like that due to storage methods, chain of custody issues etc....

They can pull DNA off of bodies from coffins in the grave yard.

"Roger, open your mouth for this cotton swab, please."

In the words of Yankees TV announcer, Michael Kay, "See ya!!"

Like was said, chain of custody will come into play. You can have a vial from a blood test then throw a little HGH in there, oh wow look I took HGH.

I'm not 100% sure if you can do it with every chemical or even human blood, but forensic scientists have some pretty ingenius methods of dating these types of things.

You're looking at this from a legal perspective; i.e., would this be enough evidence to convict Clemens of perjury to Congress. I doubt it.

However, would this be enough evidence to convict him in the court of public opinion, thus hurting his chances for the Hall of Fame? It's very possible.

The question voters would then have to ask themselves is do they want to punish Roger strictly for taking PED's, or do they say he had enough to make it into the Hall anyway?

I think he's already been found guilty in the court of public opinion...

Agreed.

If there going to crack down on anyone in the public eye, with drugs. Start cracking down on celebs with their drunk driving, excessive chemical drug use, violence and the likes... Honestly, what does it matter that players take juice.
