Wasn't it along thoes lines Belak's campaign for a all-star spot was run? (even though he had nothing to do with it himself lol...)

i think you could easily make an arguement for green, huselius, and sundin..

maybe replace keith with souray (he is an all star altough he's been hurt)

did they strictly go by number of votes or did they try to have at least one guys from each team or what?

I believe you need to have at least 1 player from each team. Then after the starting roster it is coaches pick? I am not sure though.

Wow, no Sundin. They'll add St. Louis to the team but not Sundin. I guess St. Louis is probably cheaper to accommodate since he eats for half-price and can be Lecavalier's carry-on luggage. It's not like Vinny isn't used to carrying him. Worse than that though is Hossa's on the team? Ugh.

I was wondering the same thing...I think they'll replace him with a winger...I'll say Malkin or Kovalev.

While Sundin deserves it, they will probably pick someone younger. Having a Swede from Toronto isn't going to help the US ratings.

Rumors around here are that Sundin just basically made it known he'd rather have the 3 days rest, and that seems to make sense to me because otherwise his omission is ridiculous.

Savard is pretty much carrying the B's in the 8th spot. He is working on his third really strong production season in a row. Toss in that he is a bit of a character and it is a no-brainer.

he is a great player don't get me wrong - but i would much rather see an exciting player like a malkin or kovalev in the all star game - i think it would end up being better for the sport as well.

i think an end to end rush by malkin or a highlight reel move by kovalev would be a better showcase of the sport than a quiet unnassuming guy like savard that gets a ton of assists.

I don't think they'll use HOF'ers as judges....most of those guys are "old school" and don't buy into what the League is trying to create.

I'm thinking they will use hockey-fan celebs (like Leary and Cuba Gooding Jr.) and I bet they bring in a X-Games type...Tony Hawk or someone like that. This isnt' really about hockey...Who cares if the winner actually uses the best move...or if the best move even scores. It's about the spectacle here...and seeing lots of "10"'s from the judges.

Maybe they'll use Rob Schrempf as a judge. Hell, they should just bring him up to shoot.

Savard is hardly someone I would describe as unassuming. If they mike him up for the skills competition or ASG it will be must see. The kid has some great off the cuff lines.

Between periods of the last B's game he was being asked about a slapshot goal and starts off with, "That was about a 102..........."

I bet if only players were allowed to vote Kovalev would smoke the competition with votes by at least 50% more then the next guy.
