Does anyone else have seeming bad luck with one company?

Recommended Posts

First off, I love bauer equipment. I have used their skates for as long as I can remember, but when I get a bauer stick in my hands... things seem to happen.

When they had the composite shafts I broke 3 in 2 months (all on warranty) till my LHS told me to switch to an Easton. I bough a XXV comp and it broke after 33 days.. so no warranty. It happens, didn't play alot of hockey over the christmas... when I broke it but who cares. Bought an XVI lasted 2 weeks, bought a XXV and it last 3 games (or 3days) however you want to look at it. I still haven't sent my other stick back for warranty yet...

Funny thing is, I haven't been able to break an Easton, and I have sure tried!

Why would you be "trying" to break a stick? It seems like a dumb move to me. Even though I'm strictly a Synergy fan, maybe if you stop "trying", you might have better luck with Bauer sticks.

Why not just stick with Eastons then since you seem to break Bauers easy. Also, in some cases higher end sticks might last a little longer, (excluding the XXX Lite), since you get what you pay for with sticks.

I haven't tried to break sticks. I didn't mean it like that. I have put some Synergys through alot of games, practices and shots. They haven't broken on me. Which is not a bad thing at all. It isn't like I am stepping on them skates and seeing how they work after.

I've never really had any problems with any specific company but over the last couple of seasons Ive had some problems with easton sticks and their durabality. I've used the s17 for about 6 ice sessions and the thing is already beat to shit. This stick won't last much longer, the end of the toe is starting to delaminate!

No, I've had a couple bad pieces of gear, but I don't think it's representative of the entire company.

I'd get the warranty replacements for the Bauers, sell them, and try a more durable stick or shaft like an ST, One90, or Dolomite.

Had a bad experience with Easton OPS, and also Warrior blades.

I hated the ST's I had, torqued like Hell. Shinpads I had cracked in a month.

Warrior blades, I broke my first Dolo, less than a month later broke my 2nd Dolo blade, however, I've had very good experiences with the shafts. I miss my Dolo shaft....

Don't be so sure. It would seem that more "lower end" sticks tend to last longer as their content ratio of composite to fiberglass is much different than higher end sticks. Ask around and I am sure will find that some lower end sticks tend to be more "tank-like" than the higher end sticks.

i could never get a synergy sl to last more than 1 month. blades always delaminated. i bought a bunch during a once a year sale and went through them really fast. good sticks while they lasted though.

i've never had a problem with the synergy's. They seem to hold up for me really well. So i havent swayed from them yet. I hope the new st is like the old ones.

Yeah, I'm aware, that's why I put "in some cases". At first I didn't, but then I thought about what I was saying, and thought better of it. Basically, disregard my first statement B)

Elbow pads

Girdles

Skates (both inline and ice)

Im pretty much put off the brand forever.

Try the one90 stick, someone else mentioned it as well, I broke 3 eastons synergy SL's in a month and have had my one90 stick for 3 months and its still going. I have to say though I don't think ill by another easton product after what happened with my synergy's.

I tend to have really bad luck with RBK and CCM sticks. I came into Modano's 7K rejects when he jumped ship to Warrior. Along with an inconsistent curve, I wound up going through a batch of 11 in a matter of 3 months- all breaking between my hands. CCM's have a bad habit of snapping about 5-7 inches above the hosel. Shame since they have some of the best feel of any sticks I've used.

I have had terrible luck with easton shafts and sticks + 2 of the below mentioned TPS shaft.

Easton Z-bubbles and RLXN10 shafts are by far the worst things I've ever used durability wise.

XN10 sticks aren't the best in the world for durability, especially if you slash or get slashed a lot.

I get slashed quite a bit, the z-bubbles in perticular break due to this IMO.

One of my friends seems to get decent durability out of sticks, even though he get's slashed and cheap-shoted (and threatend but that shouldn't effect durability lol) like there's no tomorrow, have know idea how the guy puts up with it. But his sticks seem to last ok though, maybe it's mostly because he stays away from Easton haha.
