PUCK IN THE CROTCH, HELP!

Recommended Posts

I bought a new pair of Easton Stealth S9 pants. I like to block shots, face forward, old school, whatever you call it. Puck ricochetted off the front of the pant and hit me just to the side of the cup. Wow, hurts like a mother. I realaized that with this bloody S9s I will need a goallie cup. Checked the 2007 CCM 852, not much better, almost just as flimzy.

Need your opinion if there are pants currently in production that offer a little more protection on the front for us old shotblocking types.

That or the Shock Doctor Titan Flex cup - that thing could take a bullet, and the gel cushion around the perimeter is WAY more comfy than the one on the standard faaux-carbon 'Bioflex' cup.

It doesn't matter what you wear, "you're gonna feel a little pinch." ^^^

One of the best roadie movies out there. A staple on the bus of any hockey team.

Whatever you do, just be sure you wear one. My buddy accidentally left his at home a few weeks ago and he ended up in the operating room. His testicle was shattered. They did manage to repair it and he is on his way to recovery.

I actually switched to the S9's after blocking too many shots with my inner thigh. The Stealths are the only pants I found that have padding extending beneath the inner leg zippers. Like everyone else said, switch the cup.

I second the Shock Doctor Flex Cup. A couple weeks ago, Buzz cought me in the beans with hard wrister from about 10ft away (he likes the upper corners). I didn't feel it there, rather I did have a nice puck mark on my inner thigh where it deflected to.

I'd stick an elbow pad down there before I went unprotected.

i have the CCM pro girdle, which is a bit expensive (like $130 with shell), but it has about as good front protection as i've seen. i block a lot of shots. it does have an area unprotected, but it's small enough that my cup covers the rest.

His testicle was shattered.

My balls are going to hurt for a week just from reading that.

no kidding. i almost threw up reading that, and my girlfriend heard me groan and looked at me like i was crazy.

that said, i'm a big advocate of the jofa jock.

Don't blame the S-9's their one of the most protective pants on the market and my pant of choice. Go to the Shock Doctor jock, one of the best on the market like previously posted. It's your responsibility to make sure you're adequately protected playing the game and it just makes common sense.

I need to take a ESL course, I swear. The question is not about the cup. Shock doctor is my choice with a bike pants underneath.

Question was about the current pants design. My old CCM had two overlapping wing like pads on the front. New 852s has a PMS size soft tissue patch and the numbnuts Easton S9 has a see through mesh. Nothe the lower inner thigh, when you are blocking, legs should be closed, at least that what we have been told. I am talking about sqatted down, legs closed, and with these two supposed to be top retail (non-pro), there is a completely padless opening bigger then a goalie cup. Between shock doctor cup and where the pads on S9 there at least 3+ inches of nothing, about 7 - 8 inches down. I have to put one had in front when I block.

Are there any pants sold that still offer at least some padding between the cup and hip guards?

Just to clarify. I am not crazy, never leave home without a cup going to play. Did once, hurt myself climbing over the fence on change. Calisse, that was dumb and egually painfull.

Im pretty sure a small piece of foam wont do much to save your crotch from getting a shot into it. Umm but if thats what you are looking for, I know the CCM 892's offer a lot of protection. The only part of the pants that have no padding are on the back of your thighs. Everything else is covered and solid.

How in the hell do you repair a "shattered" testicle?
