chk hrd 164 Report post Posted March 7, 2008 I'm guessing this guy never say the remakes of The Longest Yard, Walking Tall, Starsky & Hutch, etc, etc, etc...While thier at it why not remake Blazing Saddles, Cool Hand Luke or It's a Wonderful Life. Lets just ruin all of the classics because they can't think of an original idea.
Rustpot 1 Report post Posted March 7, 2008 Setting Up a Second SLAP SHOTI guess it's understandable that they don't know about Slapshot 2, but who wants to tell them there's already a sequel (not that this is supposed to be one)?If done well this could be pretty good. It's not like Slapshot was a great movie, but it's still a cult classic. This could be very horrible and most of you would still buy it and watch it when you're drunk in the offseason. What was the last hockey movie? Miracle? chippa13 1844 Report post Posted March 7, 2008 Steinfeld tells the paper that he plans to turn in a finished screenplay to Universal sometime this spring. His other credits include Analyze That, Be Cool Gee, with credentials like that this movie has to be a winner.

kovalchuk71 212 Report post Posted March 8, 2008 As long as they don't butcher the hell out of it (A la Slapshot 2), I could see this movie being decent.
stock07 1 Report post Posted March 8, 2008 If this films gets made everyone on this board screaming "no dont do it" will be lining up to get their copy....I dont think its a bad idea...If you really look at it, plenty of the movies we see today have come in some form or another from many older films that no knew of...It might be decent, but if not you can just burn it like slapshots 2.... PWBIII 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2008 So Steve Carell better be in this, since he told THN that if they ever re-made Slap Shot, he would love to be a part of it.
pat19 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2008 So Steve Carell better be in this, since he told THN that if they ever re-made Slap Shot, he would love to be a part of it.Dave 'Killer' Carlson? He can be funny but I think he'd suck in a Slap Shot remake... the whole thing will probably be brutal anyways, terrible idea. Chadd 916 Report post Posted March 8, 2008 So Steve Carell better be in this, since he told THN that if they ever re-made Slap Shot, he would love to be a part of it. I can't think of one role he could improve.
cxo 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2008 I think Paul Newman's personality is going to be too difficult to recreate, and I don't just mean of his characters. It was a bad movie, but still funny, and had personality because of the original characters. It's got a very slight chance of being any good.
Chadd 916 Report post Posted March 8, 2008 I think Paul Newman's personality is going to be too difficult to recreate, and I don't just mean of his characters. It was a bad movie, but still funny, and had personality because of the original characters. It's got a very slight chance of being any good. With so many of the "actors" being actual players and just being themselves (or slightly more over the top versions of themselves) it's going to be hard to find actors who you believe in those roles. The script was pretty bad and could easily be polished up quite a bit. I mean "take that sentence back", not really top-notch script work.
Penguinsfanatic 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2008 That is so true and that was the great thing about it, the script was so bad that it just made the movie a whole hell of a lot funnier and those actors were in their element and that is hard to recreate
Nutella 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2008 "Major surgery, open heart."They'll probably get rid of the one great song in the movie. The actors would be wearing helmets. The actors would be Hollywood pretty boys and would not be able to skate (assuming), etc. This just sounds like a bad idea.I'm just picturing the bus scene with a 'charter' bus and some phat 50 cent beat dat's off da hook yo playing in the background. Clarence "Screaming Buffalo" Swamptown would NEVER be in the movie considering today's political agendas. I doubt anyone would be able to get Denis Lemieux right. Nah, nah. This all sounds bad. Don't fix what's not broken.I'm also wondering what would happen with the line, "I look like some @#$! sucking #@$!$^@!" Stuff like that.
Doctor Hook 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2008 I back this, because I love the OG, but it's dated as hell. Still a classic, but would love to see it re-made if done right.I could see Carell as Dunlop.
chippa13 1844 Report post Posted March 8, 2008 Carrell would be a terrible Reg Dunlop. Carrell's best humor is slapstick-ish and playing the idiot. Neither of those describes Reg Dunlop. About the only character I could picture Carrell playing is the radio announcer. I'm no casting director but for some reason, if he can skate, I could see Kurt Russell as a Reg kind of character. I did, however, manage to turn down that movie w/ Bon Jovi in it. I want to be able to look at myself in the mirror...
