If you could improve one thing about your game.....

Recommended Posts

Jeez, all these things and more can be had with a little effort.

Stickhandle--just stickhandle a ball, and have a friend whack you on the head with a stick every time you look down

etc etc

Its not just about looking down when your stickhandling, its about developing soft hands. That takes a loooonngg time to master.

Conditioning. Fortunately that's something I can improve.

I heard your shot needs work. You haven't hurt enough people with it yet.

:P

What do I want for Christmas, I mean improve my game?

Backwards skating better/at all

Stronger Slappers

Consistently Accurate Wrist Shots

Smooth Backhand Passes

Better Acceleration

Wait, just improve everything about my game!

I'm a "pass it to a forward to do all the work" or a "bang it off the glass to clear" type of D man. I really should carry more when the situation calls for it.

I would like to be able to 'crossover' to the RIGHT as hard, fast & effortless as I can 'crossover' to the LEFT.

I wish I could do them equally well........... but probably will never happen at this point (40 years of age).

I hear ya...same problems with my skating, but reversed. To the Left I'm fine...to the Right I suck!

Skating. To my detriment I am essentially self taught so I can get where I need to go, but it is not pretty and not very fast. (I also have some lazy habits left over from roller)

Keeping my head up. If I wasn't playing in a non-check beer league I'm quite certain I'd be dead by now.

My balance. I'm going to make one of those balance boards next week when I get my check for working all spring break. It seems like I have was falling down a lot in the last 10-12 games this year and its really annoying.

i'd like to not make as many knuckle head decisions...like not looking before I pass it or assuming i'll be able to blow by anyone in front of my own net then losing it/giving up a scoring chance when I could easily just have made a breakout pass.

I second that. Man is it hard to skate being self taught on ice.

Vision--go get a Brock String and practice with it a little

etc etc

vision as in seeing plays develop ahead of time and know when and where people are going to be at any time can't really be developed by visual therapy... its my problem too

friggin high speed breakaways. I always choke. Penalty shots and shootouts I'm a lot better in, but I get all nervous on a full speed breakaway with people chasing after me and I always choke, or try too hard to get that extra step on the guy chasing me.

It's funny, I always hear that most people are better at game speed breakaways than on penalty shots and shootouts. But I think the adrenaline gets the best of me.
