Game 1 is over.....first impressions.

Shot: It should be no surprise to me that the XN10 loves to shoot, afterall that is the legacy that the material is the most famous for. And true to form, the puck really comes off of the blade quite well. Very hard shot, great kick from the shaft, ranking it up there with the R2 with regards to kick.

Feel: Balance on the stick is great. I actually don't think that I will need my typical wood tenon in the shaft to balance it out, but I may experiment with a 2" tenon in there to see if that helps with feel and potentially dampens some of the pingyness of the blade. Puck feel was not quite what I was expecting honestly. Puck feel for myself I am very picky about and the new XN10 was not up to par with the original XN10's that I am used to. It certainly is not a dead feeling stick, certainly above average....but not what I was hoping for out of the material.

Blade: The blade is quite stiff and very lively. This I feel is what detracted a bit of the puck feel for me. It didn't feel metallic, but certainly a touch pingy and I had to be a little more delicate than I am used to to control the puck properly. I got much better with the stick post warm ups and further into the game, but the first few minutes were.....ummm.....interesting.

All in all.....the new XN10 does 75% of what the originals did for me, while coming up a touch short in the feeling department. True to form though, if you love to simply rip shots this stick will not be a dissapointment to you.

I'll post more thoughts as time progresses with the new twig.

Lets get a look at the curve of that sexy thing. Hot stick!

Is it a concave or boxy shaft?

Spree already mentioned it is a concave shaft.

But...Spree...you're a Compro sales rep...how could you POSSIBLY even like a competitor's stick?

Disclaimer - he's not really, but some people think he is.

But I thought that you sold your 51% share hold of the company to a carnie with 3 toes on his left foot an 9 on his right??

Back on topic for a moment, so this is more pingy than the original? And anything on the shaft durability, since it is 40 grams heavier, maybe they reinforced the slash zone?

Just got my second tps xn10 shaft from southern sports supply through my college club team. Actually I ordered an R8 shaft but what came was a red (not redlight) xn10. It broke shortly after I got it. They sent me a replacement and it is a blue and grey xn10 shaft. Both are exactly the same except the colors. They both say tps response xn10 on the stick. The graphics are pretty crappy but I don't really care what they look like. They are made in Canada and say model R7CSX on them. Anyone know what is up with these shafts? They feel pretty good and I have enjoyed using them for the short time I have had them. The ones I got are tapered and reg flex. Also, they have the "grip zone". Seems different than anything I have seen at retail (which isn't much since it has been hard to find any tps shafts, especially now that they were bought out by Sherwood.) Other shafts I use are a dolomite and xxx-lite and this feels fairly similar. Anyone else use these shafts or know why they are different from retail r8's?

They're Euro retail sticks, never used one but I was told they are similar to the original XN10s.

Thanks Chadd. I like it so far but haven't had it long. Never tried the original xn10 but have noticed that many people on here tend to like them. I hope then, that it is the same. ;)

Johnson, what did the new shaft cost you??? Chadd is correct, both the Red (non grip) and Blue (grip) were made for Europe. As well, they are built like the original Yellow/Black XN10's.

To be honest, I'm not exactly sure what I am paying for them. Like I said in my original post I had ordered an R8 and the xn10 is what I got. I'm not complaining as I really like the feel of the stick and the way I am able to shoot with it. Now, hopefully it will last a bit longer than the original that I ordered. TPS was very quick to replace it, no questions asked. Sometimes getting things through Southern Sports can be like that. I expect to be charged around 80 USD for the shaft. They haven't billed me yet but I am sure they will sooner or later. Anyone who plays NCAA or ACHA can order through Southern Sports Supply and for all I know you may not have to be affiliated at that level even.

I know this an old thread, but after reading this last year, I finally tracked a TPS RedLite XN10 Whip Flex down and it's on it's way. Should be here by Tuesday. I'm going to pair it up with a One95 Gagne blade.

I hope this is as good as everyone said it is :D

(I tried adding a picture using ImageShack and Photobucket, but I kept getting an error message: You have entered a link to a website that the administrator does not allow links to)

Google Search - Craig's List in CA. They guy listed it as only local pickup, but I offered to pay exta + Shipping. Took the guy about a month to finally get it together and ship it out. I may be getting scammed, but I have a tracking number, so I doubt he would sent a 1.5 lb box, just to scam me out of $50.
