Got my Briere s17 prostock

Recommended Posts

So today I get my Briere S17 prostock in the mail....nicest stick I've ever had. Absolutely amazing. The blade has this sand paper type finish on it which I love. It doesnt have that ellipse thing toward the lower part of the stick either. Enjoy the pics

Very nice score... did you buy it, or is it a Toy Drive stick? (If so, I'm jealous... as I'm STILL awaiting mine)

but for future reference, you may want to put stuff like this in the Show it off thread.

No toy drive, 24hrhockey.com dude. sorry next time I'll put my new equip in the other thread. I'm not sure about it being an SE, I think briere was going back and forth from a s17 and now sticks with the Se or the elite w/e you call it.

Its pretty flexy, probably around an 85, I guess because briere isnt exactly the strongest player out there. It's a couple inches shorter than a regular length senior s17 I think. If your over 5'10ish give or take, it's gonna be too short but you can always put a peg in.

Almost 57 inches from tip of shaft to heel to be exact.

I'm 6'1 and I cut my stick at 57"

Don't generalize, stick length is personal preference. Saying something like that makes you sound ignorant.

No idea.. I've sent 1 or 2 PM's just to check on the status.... if there's shortage or something, cool. But I haven't heard a thing.... I sent about $120 worth of stuff (I didn't have enough $$ to send in 2 sticks worth of toys)

Yea your right sorry bro I just automatically thought of the old "to the chin" thinking with stick length. That seems hella short though for 6'1, but I guess I'm not taking lie into consideration either.

Haha, my old work you ordered from. I wanted to snag the S17 when I saw it in the shop, but I had no money. Lucky SOB

Yea I'd love to pick up a pro-stock Danny "Biere" stick! I really love that curve though, but I've seen slight variations of it labeled as a Briere curve as well. I've seen a couple of his twigs that had the blade of a 9 iron, something I hadn't seen before. I'd pick one up if it were an actual S17...

the only reason he says SE is because it doesnt appear to have the ellipse goin, making it a painted SE

Or an ST, or a CNT, or whatever else Easton has that doesn't use the Ellipse.

Blade coating is Z-tac, lovely stuff.

ST would probably be noticeably "heavy," CNT is concave... I'd say it was a SE/SL too.

I have an ST painted like an SE, and besides the dense feeling it doesn't feel heavy per se. Also, wouldn't the CNT have whatever shaft walls are asked for?

It is most likely an SE, but until he pops the top and takes a peek at the sticker or someone like SRL gives a definitive answer we can just speculate.

I can't see your pics for some reason, but I have the same stick (Briere pro stock, S17 graphics, no eliptical shape, Z-Tac, etc).

- Mine is around 85 flex

- Feels heavy to me to be an SE, but not really sure (no stickers as far as I can see)

- The huge open wedge seems to get me a lot of velocity on wrist shots, but stick handling is a little tougher

- Snap/slap shots sometimes feel a little "dampened" depending on where I catch the puck on the blade

- Keeping the puck down is not easy to to. The first time a tried using this stick in a game, I took a slapshot on a rush a few feet inside the blue line and it sailed a good 5 feet over the net.

Takes some getting used to, enjoy your new stick!

Well it feels pretty light to me. My one90 is cut to about 54 inches, and this one at the stock 57 still, and they feel pretty similar in weight. To the touch it feels like an SE but who knows. Do all normal pro stock S17's have the ellipse?

No concave shape to the shaft either.

Not all of them have the ellipse. Some are just painted "Whatever stick you wanna call its" to give the new top-gun stick more exposure, or in some cases, the low-end stick more exposure (i.e. Shoane Morrisonn and Donald Brashear using sticks painted like Warrior Shoguns

All true S17's have the ellipse. No ellipse = No S17
