I stitched velcro onto the back of my retails........6 games i have a small cut on one of my socks.....definitely going back to wool....$25 is too much for these #$@%#%$@

Pro Edge is the way to go, if you have a chance to get them for cheap, go for it

I'll add my recent experience as well. I bought some from Hockey Monkey and they ended up being about $35 shipped which was pricey, but hey, in the grand scheme of things it's not a big deal to try them out.

I tried them on and they were big and more loose than I expected. I use the compression jock with velcro and I was able to make them stay up ok using the one velcro tab that comes on the front of the sock and then just stuck the mesh back part of the sock to my other velcro on the jock. I still had to use some tape on the shin to make it feel snug though - it felt like my shin guards were still a bit floppy. I had hoped the sock would be tighter and I could stop using tape.

Anyway, I played the whole game and then when it was over the guy next to me asked what I thought of them and I had forgotten I was even wearing them! So in the end they felt no different to me than my regular socks. I'll probably still wear them to see if I ever notice anything but it's not like my legs felt cooler or anything.

I know the retail are 30" but what about the pro version, I'm looking to buy a pair but don't want to get them off e-bay and then they don't fit. I'm 5'8" and wear RBK 8ks. I want to be sure they don't go to my neck if you know what i saying. Thanks.

I'm not at home, so I can't measure them...but I've got Pro (L) ones and I'm about your height and wear RBK's (3k). They come well above my knee. To about mid/high thigh...No way I would want an XL.

But, because they arent' as heavy as traditional socks, if they do bunch a bit, it's not like they become bulky....hardly notice it actually.

The Large pro one's are perfect for me (6', 155#, 14" shins). The XL's are OK but not quite tight enough width wise for my liking. The retail one's are HUGE. I need to update this pic to add in the XL's I just got but you can see the difference between the L's and the retail version.

I got a pair of retails and they just fit the shin part without being wrinkly, but everything above the knee is baggy (5'9" 14" shins). I really need to get some authentic larges. Now, another comparison would be the youth model retail sock.

An intermediate sock would work wonders. I have XL+ and those things go up to my crotch.

No offense, but I'm really happy I could get some game-used pro stock RBK EDGE socks from the Blackhawks. They fit awesome... They are very comfortable. I still skate with my wool solid white though. I'm keeping these EDGE as a collectors item sort of thing. They have a TON of game-used socks at Hawkquarters in Chicago. No practice though. Yet... I'm hoping they get some in. I'd be all over some black and white or white and red socks practice EDGE pro stock socks!!!

I got a pair of Portland Pirates home XL's this week. the fit mid thigh on me. Preliminary test fit with a set of shock doc compression jock velcro and the sock sticks to it okay.. The top of the sock circumference measures about 21" .

lengthwise measures about 24" long.

Bottom circumference measure 10.5"

test driving them this weekend to see how they do .

Did you get those off of eBay? I saw a guy who apparently had a bunch of pairs, and was going to pick up a pair but was unsure if it was the actual thing. Does it have a little Rbk logo on it?

Yeah.. got it off of ebay. its got the tag on the back of the leg. .. someone can correct me on this one but I do not think the rbk logo is stiched on the pro sock like the retail ones. (refer to NorrisContender's pic up top).

Pro do not have RBK stitched on. Mine have tons of team repairs on them...but I've seen no new wear since I'm using them. Pro seems to be more durable then retails (by accounts of users here).

Also got 2 retail pairs today and holy geez are they ever HUGE. Just took a look at them again just now and I just laughed when I looked at them. They look like they were made for 6'5" guys...I'm 5"10 and use 14" pads are I'm floating around in them. Material is really awesome though. I'll have to try them out Thursday for my game. And what's even worse, is that I had to get 2 pairs of Sens colours so they can match our jerseys. Never thought I'd own anything Sens related. Brutal! :o

Haha, exact same situation as me, same specs and everything (except i got Vancouver ones), these things are MASSIVE, ive yet to play in them so ill see how they work out, but trying them on over my shins they seem really big. I'll just have to skate with them and see how they feel before making any real judgement though.

Got a new, interesting compaint about EDGE. I'm using regular garters...rubber pin...metal loop, and my left leg keeps popping off mid game. My right stays in place...and I never had this happen whan I was using wool socks.

Is there a better garter to use with EDGE?

I'm going to assume that a garter is the best way to hold these puppies up no?

Because ive tried a few variations of strapping them to my velcro jock and all of them result in the back of the sock drooping severly.

Itech Jock shorts. The velcro is very handy.

EDGE material doesnt stick to velcro.

And, yes, if you read a few posts back, there is a Jr version.

On the back if you crumple the sock so that the mesh is on the velcro, it will barely stick. Fold the flap for your velcro over and tape around your leg.
