Time for me to be the asshole...

When are these athletes going to learn not to do things like that? It's just a shame that they put themselves in such a risk like that.

I was sitting back on making that same comment.

Seriously though...When you are getting paid MILLION$ to play a GAME...stay the hell off of something or away from an activity that can cost you that livlihood. Unfortunately, in this case...it cost him and his family more than just his hockey career.

I wonder if people criticized Roberto Clemente for being in an airplane.

That's not exactly the same thing.

Its all about the odds, I read that the chance of being in a plane crash is about 1 in 11million and Google tells me the odds for having an accident on a motorcycle are 1 in 1,295.

RIP also, would have for sure had a good future in the NHL.

Just read - "According to TEAM 1040 reports, Bourdon only acquired the motorcycle two days ago."

Unfortunate, RIP, smeemed like a nice guy in his interviews.

Motorcyles - Question of not, if you will ever crash, but when and how bad.

Update. Apparently he hit a semi head on. Have to wonder what happened to cause him to hit a semi head on.

Well, to comment on some of the other guys quotes... they're just simply accidents. Not to bring up my own personal experience with losing a good friend in a bike accident... but this kid eat, slept, and breathed motorcycles. He was a Ducati certified technician that was just on a casual ride with a co-worker.

Sadly enough, that's exactly how my friend passed, KingPest... took a turn, ended up veering into oncoming and was hit by a 16 passenger van.

I'm an NHL fan, and unfortunately didn't get the chance to watch Luc in his young career.. but this strikes a nerve for me, and hits close to home.

Terrible news.

I'm not too sure about criticizing these athletes for riding motorcycles. Of course we don't know how irresponsible he was being when the accident occurred, but these guys are adults and motorcycles are perfectly legal. Unless you are an idiot, you understand the possible consequences of riding when you purchase a bike. These guys shouldn't have to deny every other passion in their life just because they play pro sports.

That said, it's beyond tragic when these things occur. I wish those who knew him the best.

RIP Luc.

My deepest condolences go out to his family and friends.

I was excited to see him as a regular this season. Awful tragedy.

This is true. I also just don't get motorcycles and though I have inklings to get one, never do for obvious reasons. I remember coming home one summer from college to get a dental check-up and my dentist looked like a Hell's Angel and took up motorcycling. Come back that winter for another check-up and he's dead because he hit a moose on his bike.

It's a shame to hear something like this, however on a somewhat lighter note my uncle [builds custom motorcycles down in florida] told me they are developing these hopefully they do get put into production

I just mapquested the location. It is past the middle of nowhere.

Too much, too fast, too soon..........

Too you it is, but that hits our province hard. I grew up playing teams from his area, its all tight knit, small communities, Shippagan is actually a fishing community. Dark day in NB for sure.

That area of NB has had it hard, 7 kids and mom die in a bus crash a few months ago, and now this. God Bless.

QandA,

No offense intended about your area. I would rather be there any day of the week than here in suburbia NYC. My thoughts to your friends in the area. Peace.

That's crazy, I was just talking to one of my buddies yesterday about Luc Bourdon, because I was supposed to play with him in a RBK league this summer, and my friend was telling me how great of a player he is, and how he's a really nice guy. Horrible news, he had such a promising career ahead of him.

I had no mal-intent either, to most its the middle of nowheres, but to some its home, I've never met the guy but take pride in him. Thanks for the kind words though.

Terrible news, that kid was probably one of the best players to come out of New Brunswick. He would have had for sure a good and long career in the NHL. My friends brother played with him in Cape Breton and he was apparently a very good teammate. He probably scored his most important goal during the Canada-USA game during WJHC last year to tie it (but most people remember Towes for the shootout). R.I.P. Luke

I met him a few years ago in Hamilton. He was a nice guy. I had his team Canada card, with me, didn't get it signed, because I didn't want to bother him, thought I would have maybe another oppourtunity or two, but now I am regretting my decision.

RIP Luc...You were a hell of hockey player. Best wishes to the Family
