Compression Jocks

Recommended Posts

I'm looking to order one online unfortunately as my LHS only carries shock doc. and itech. I'm currently wearing the shock doc power compression and while i like how it actually keeps the cup in place, the rest of the jock isnt all that comfortable. On the other hand, I have an old UA hockey compression jock that is really comfortable, but the cup doesn't sit correctly. Anything out there, (warrior, RBK, easton, etc) that provides a happy medium of the two?

Try the Warrior Nut Hut (:D ... or not)

I have an Easton that I'm not sure of the name, it's black and red and has done it's job well for me.

WSI makes a good product as well I hear.

We carry it and I'm not a fan. It doesn't hold as tight after a while. I went back to the Itech Jock Short.

I'm personally a fan of my Shock Doctor. My problem is the cup riding up, I constantly use the shaft of my stick to push it down so the shaft of my other stick isn't getting all scrunched in the already too narrow cup (but I love the flex to it).

If anything I'd contemplate running a standard jock under the shorts.

I was not a fan of the UA shorts I had. The leg seams didn't stretch as much and cut into my thighs, and the crotch area was flat (shorts looked like the bottom half of an H) and served to crush my junk up into me instead of cradle and support. This was a standard short and not a jock short, though.

What version of the WSI? I've had several different models and mine have held up for quite a while. They're alittle stretched out now, but after three or four years I should expect that.

We carry the easton compression jock and itech shorts and the easton are by far the most comfortable imo(black and orange ones, or black and red)

Pretty sure it was this one:

This is the Itech I've worn and liked.

They aren't very durable either, but I like the fit better. It's more of a personal preference for mesh vs. spandex for me.

I second the easton i wear one too. I changed the cup in mine though, i took the bananna cup (i believe its called) out of my rbk jock and put it into my easton one.

I have an A&R and a Shock Dr. I really like the A&R much better - it has a lot bigger velcro tabs and the cup just seems to sit in place better.

The new Easton Compressions are really nice. I prefer the full pant but the shorts are nice to. They keep your stuff in place.

I use the ShocDoc comp shorts. I switched out the SD cup for the one I had in my Jock+. I didn't like the idea of the SD cup with a rivet dead center in it. Something about a slapshot hitting that rivet and I failed to see the total protection package of a rivet getting smashed into my you-know-what. Sometimes I think just switching out to your old cup can solve the problem for comfort. We stopped carrying Jock+/Itech as all they ever did was rip apart at the waist. No problems like that with SD or Easton.

Did you ever hear the one about the guy who wanted to return the comp jock after he wore it in a game because it didn't fit? That's a story for another day.

I've had two Shock Doctors and the cups are a real pain to get into place, then the velcro and waist band come unstitched, and if you get it in there, it's not big enough for the boys.

I'm seriously considering the Nutty Buddy, but I think I'll just stick it out with the Shock until it completely falls apart.

I found an easy way to get the rubber/silicone to not snag getting the cup in (Hands A and B

A hold the wide end of the cup in one hand, pointing the skinny into the pocket

A put the bulge of the cup (smooth side) under the waistband

B grab the inside of the pocket with your other hand, put the thumb on the velcro opening and the fingers at the skinny end

B pull the pocket open and scrunch the part in your hand

A push the cup with your thumb that's holding it and use your free fingers to pull the waistband

The trick is to slide it on the side that isn't rubber so it won't catch. Gets pretty easy such that I don't dread washing the shorts anymore (I used to not wash them to avoid the struggle of getting the cup in, that got old fast).

Thanks for the tip, close to what I do, which is kind of bunch up the inner part and shove the dang cup in.

Funny thing about it is if it isn't lined up perfect, there is no way of straightening it out in game! Requires a full removal and re-insertion. Had some funny looks when its crooked and trying to fix it before a face off

I'm always grabbing my junk before faceoffs. it is funny to see people look at you.

How does the easton run size-wise relative to the Shock Doc? I'm currently wearing a medium SD and its a bit too small. How do the RBK compression jocks run comparatively as well?

Cavs, not sure if it's just the overall tightness of the ShockDr Power Jock you don't like, but if that's the case they also make a Loose Hockey Jock that is more of a mesh short.

Caves, the Easton is a strange pant. They make the legs very long so guys like you and I with bigger quads have to either go a size bigger or just tighter. I chose to go tighter myself. It assures my stuff stays in place. I'm 5'11 and weigh 218lbs. I wear a size medium pant to fit my pant (jean) size 34 inseam. But like I said, I waer these tight. Hope this helps.
