Ron Francis Pattern

Recommended Posts

I use to use this pattern, but been out of hockey for a while and back into it now. I have been using the sakic patterns (and clones) for the last year, but the drury has been looking more and more appealing (read not as shovelly..). I know the francis pattern had some uplift, would it be more like the drury or the p106?

I used to use it too. There is no retail equivalent. It was sort of a giant wedge that hooked like a mid and had a little kink at the toe for good measure. High lie too.

Correct, and to continue with that, the P71 was the Clark before the Peca.

But, what do you think about the P31? ;) *hmmm wondering if someone will pick up on this

I have 2 Bauer 3030 in the Francis pattern, both lefty and not used. I checked them out today. As said, mid curve, great toe loft, very high lie, flat blade bottom. Nothing like it on retail patterns today. I'll post a picture on Monday.

That blade was a real jack of all trades. The sick thing about it was since the lie was so high and that blade was tricked out so much that when you had a fresh 3030, it was absolutely off the chain ridiculous when you leaned into one.

My righties had a bit more bend in the toe. That first run of 3030 might be the best wood ever. It's a close run between that and the koho/canadiens covered in white fiberglass.
