oh wow, making its way up the food chain.

Hofstra and Stony Brook! The battle of Long Island! I'd be more impressed if we saw pictures of players who DIDN'T live in Brooklynite's backyard. Oh... nevermind, I still wouldn't be impressed.

or when a player that lives further away from the shop that carries them has one.

stupid question, why is Bauer so dominate (70% supposedly) in the NHL but at the retail level its not that way? what makes the Bauer skates so much better for the pro level?

Bauer dominates at retail as well.

Oh, it is. More than you will ever know.

is it durability, fit? its amazing in todays environment where nothing is "top secret" that a company could dominate like that

It could really depend on where you're at...I do see Graf skates to be well represented here, but Bauer does dominate.. If you're playing beer league, one is going to find 4-5 guys in Grafs every time...

That's a fine point in regard to Graf's.

I play a few nights a week with a bunch of guys that played either in the Show, or NCAA or Dub, or pro in Europe

Out of roughly 20 guys, 7-8 wear Graf's..that is a fairly telling sign.

You also live in Alberta. :)

Graf may have their followers among older guys, but Bauer has this generation sewn up among travel players in our district.

There are a lot of kids in Graf as well..

There's no doubt Graf has a faithful following but Nike/Bauer skates generally fit more types of feet, have a greater selection of levels of skates and are overall much more reasonably priced. Nike/Bauer is where it is because they offer more choice, keep up with the latesr inovation and have good research and development in their own right.

graf definitely fit a wider range of feet, also depends on where you are with regards to price! in europe vapor 40's are going for ~$1000 when you can get any of the graf range for ~$600 and have them custom for ~$800.

How many LHS carry the many different Graf lasts? Whereas with the newer NBH Vapor and Supreme lines it isnt needed.

Graf is a love/hate skate. You either love'em or hate'em.

That would be correct..I love my 502s...

The 735s seem to be well-represented among the youth players while the 703 and 705 seem popular among the beer league crowd..Almost all are in Tuuk holders though..

I like my Grafs because they fit. I'd love them if they were as light and well made as vapors. I've got the supra g series though, which I got on discount; the ultra's are lighter, but I think they're ugly and too expensive. By the way, I'm finding the cobra holders / blades aren't too bad. I'm actually kind of liking them over the tuuk.

Wore Bauers for 10 years, then tried Graf's and loved the feel of them. Turns out the sizing was off, so I figured I would try 8090's for a good deal. Wore them 5 times before I was back in 705's. If you find a model that suits your foot, that is all that really matters.

Bouce, I'm in Victoria now man. Been here for 2 years.
