It's probably part of a cataloging system Bauer uses, they can more easily track a bad batch or tweak manufacturing properly when they can put a serial number on everything they make.

I noticed during yesterdays caps wings game that Semin uses a One95 but instead of the "webbing" or whatever you want to call it being blue or red or grey (like anyone else on the caps) his was green. Does anyone know why he uses the green?

iD skates? That would be a hit.

or so expensive that no one would do it...

I don't know. Alot of people buy XXXX's and One95's and with the hype of the X:60's they probably will sell well.

I think that id skates would be a killer idea, not just from bauer but all the other companies too. I would love it if Easton decided to do some kind of id system for their sticks, gloves, and skates; that would be nice

Maybe Savard was bored and got out the Sharpie...............

Two words - NikeID?

Savard does design his own skates. Another Messier skate headcase.

Haha not the point I was trying to make :)

As in the ID program is going to be expanded to include skates, like Kane's Winter Classic design?

If so, any idea on what the markup on that would be?

I am not saying that it is going to happen, but what I am saying is that there may be a demand for it and they have the optimal setup for it. Since a lot of shops don't have the knowledge and/or the desire to go the custom route, they can do this on a purely aesthetic angle - offer stock skates with customizable components.

I think that program might work out nicely if they offer it. I used to work in a rather large bike shop and we did a lot of high end bikes, Trek had a similar program with their carbon road bikes. For a fee (which was maybe a couple hundred dollars, which isn't much on a $4000+ bike) the buyer could customize the paint scheme on the frame and go as crazy or as subtle as he or she wanted, it was pretty neat and the consumers really took to it (even the ones who normally wouldn't go for that sort of thing). I think if Bauer decides to go for something similar it might be more successful than they think as long as the price isn't too steep.

On the other hand, how many little bastards will be skating on red/white/blue or yellow/green/purple skates after a few months of the program being active? I shudder at the thought. Maybe just offer 6 or 7 different preset options (blacked out, white out, retail with a different color accent, etc).

My only question is whether or not 2k will adopt it- I assume they don't have ID choices already for Bauer sticks. Now that would be killer.
