I remember an MSH discussion on Samuelson and his wrist-taping:

Here's a pair of his that he opted to alter instead:

His palm was the most horrific thing I've ever seen.

so why doesn't he just wear gloves a size SMALLER than he normally does? i'd think that they'd fit him as tight as he'd like his gloves to fit?

finger length, or hes just superstitious that he has to do that to his gloves, probably a combo of both

He's 6'2 and wears 13" gloves already. And yes, he wears nash with the overlay from stretch palms and uses them until you think its a piece of raw meat stitched in.

And Hockeytown Authentics only wants like $400 for his set of XXXs, I wouldn't be surprised if everyone's talking about the same pair in a random locker on the east wall, along with a Maltby Bauer 4000 bucket with a NikeBauer sticker peeling off for $500 or something stupid that's sitting on top.

I didn't think the prices were too bad overall.

I believe those gloves were $175, but Drapers' good-condition Franchises were $175 as well.

The real deals are the skates (the ones that are still in one piece, at least). I would have bought Cleary's unused Eastons in a second at $200... mainly just for those tongues.

Edit - Speaking of the skates there, several of them had large circles cut out of the boot around the back or side of the heel. It looked like there were remnants of stitching/Sharpie marks around the portion that had been cut out. Anybody know what that's about?

They must have gotten the hint when stuff wasn't moving. Are they still charging $350-500 for sticks from Datsyuk, Lidstrom, Osgood and others? I haven't been back there in a while, been meaning to get a Sameulsson stick for $75 or one of the 2-way guys that's a righty.

I was just there on a trip this tuesday. Saw those goves, I did not think $175 for draper's gloves were too bad. As for the holes in skates, I think they did that so you could not buy them and use them. I bought Darren Meech's broken one90 shaft for $20 (what a steal) and they had about 7 of holmstrom's broken kroniks there for $20. All they did was make a flat cut where the stick broke, (I will be there with more money next time.) Hossa's stick was around $200 I recall, and I don't think anything was around $300!

P.S. - at the joe louis hockeytown authentics, they had unsigned helmets for $250 and signed helmets for $500

Yeah some of their stuff is a little pricey, but there are a few times that they have good prices. They had a pair of Schneider's Eastons for $120 and Lebda's NBH 4-rolls for $95.

I've seen that done to accommodate injury/bone spurs etc. Normally it is covered with some sort of padding afterwords.

That's what I suspected, but the size of the holes and the hastiness with which it appeared to have been done seemed odd.

Rust, I was in the same boat - hoping for some Grand Rapids Griffin call-up to be right-handed and like light flexes. I would have picked up Malts' One95 for $125, but I couldn't bring myself to take a risk on an ugly heel curve. I thought about grabbing Sammy's Salming for $100, but the tape-residue grip he puts on there would destroy my glove palm.

Edit - Misspoke and said "toe" rather than "heel."

ive found quite a few good deals there, but they do have ridiculous prices on some. i got a pair of xxx skates for 75, another pair for 50, and they were both easily 7/10 condition, i bought 2 ak27 for 50 a piece, but one time i went to buy a helmet, thought it was 50, but when i got to the register they asked for 500 something. that was ridiclous.

maybe its the lighting but something looks different about Malkin's XXXXs.. it's prolly just me and my eyes though.

You might want to ask Crosby, as he seems a might bit curious himself.

Nah, nothing special about them unless there's internal similarities to the X60. You'll know when you see the X60s.

Could be that in those cases, they opted to pad the bone spur directly (gel pack taped over, etc.) and hack a bigger hole into the boot to accommodate it.

Those aren't NBH pants. I think they might be warrior's new pro pant. Kind of strange for a NBH poster boy.
