Tackla Pants

Where does the canadien version of the Tackla 951 fall in their lineup. I just ordered the 9000 pro canada model from the hockey shop and they are huge! Is the 951 a lot less protection? Thanks

Yes, the 951 is much less protective. The 9000 pro breaks in very quickly and you won't even notice that you're wearing them after a few games.

I've just talked to the main supplier of CSKA Moscow Hockey Club about 5 minutes ago

I asked his about Tackla pants (it is very difficult to find it in Russia), why he doesn't supply Tackla's pants already

He said to me that Tackla isn't a leader more in pants about 8 years

He highly recommended Vapor's XXV, Supreme 75, Missions and something else.

I dont say that Tackla is not good pants, but it is professional opinion - this guy supplies the professional team..

I love my tackla pants! Got the 5000 pro's and until these are torn to craps I won't even try other pants.

An opinion of a "professional" is still just an opinion, he prob just supplies whatever is easiest for him to get and saying it's the best.

If he hasn't Tackla - it means nobody from CSKA hockey club wear it..

But you're right - it was just his epinion

If he's suggesting that the XXV or Supreme 75 is a better pant than a 9000 or 5000 then the guy is a hack or has an ulterior motive.

I'd believe in that, but I've tried to find the Tackla pants for two weeks and I failed

I asked for it in "pro" stocks like I said before - nobody has it, becauses russian pros don't use Tackla pants

Just in case, I've tryed to order a 9000s on hockeymonkey.com, thehockeyshop.com - they won't ship to RU

I think, if the Tackla pants had been BEST, it would have been in every LHS

There is no one and only "best" of any product like this, mostly because people have different wants or needs. Not having any in Russia sounds like a distributor problem more than anything else. The fact that no distributor is listed on their website reinforces that belief.

I have a hard time respecting anyone pushing someone looking for high end gear into mid level product like XXVs and Supreme 75s.

forgive my ignorace but what is so special about tacklas that makes them so high end? I never tried them, but was thinking of switching my XXX Lite to something less bulky (even thought the pants are pretty mobile after I broke them in they're still an overkill for a beer league)

Well, I just got my 9000s today and I have to say that from the front and sides, this is easily the most protective pant I have ever seen. The tailbone is slightly lacking, but otherwise, seems like epic protection and very decently lightweight fwiw. Btw, how well does this liner work at keeping water out? I am coming from vapor 6 and those are absolute bricks at the end of a game due to water soaking in.

I do not think Chadd was saying that every Takla pant is high end but rather that the 9000 Pro and 5000 Pro lines were not in the same class as Vapor XXV's or Supreme 75's. It is not an even comparison. Almost like taking a skater who is looking to decide between a ONE95 and a U+ and telling them that they are crap skates and need to look at Easton S-7's. (And I am not tlking about fit issues.) If somone is looking at one company's top of the line product, and you are trying to sell them another companiy's product at least point them toward the top tier product from your company and not a price point product. (now if the dealer was trying to talk Furyan out of buying a product that was too much for him that would be one thing but that is not what it sounded like.)

I have the Tackla 5000 Airs and they are easily one of the best quallity and one of the most protective European fit pants I have ever owned. My other pants are Easton S-7's and are a bit beefer for protection but nowhere near as nice a fit. My personal opinion is Tackla higher end pants are right up there with some of the better North American brands but the N/A brands may be hard pressed to match Tackla's fit. It's mostly a personal preference issue anyway and I am in no way dissing N/A made pants. In fact I still like the fit of RBK or Easton pants but not as much as my Tackla's.

There's MILES of difference between Tackla 5000/9000 and those NBH pants. Those NBH pants barely even have any upper thigh protection, and the hip protection isn't even close. The lower spine protection on the NBH's is air-filled and sits out rather far. Even the XXXXs and one90s are miles off from tackla, the models just don't match up. Completely different classes of product. Pretty much the only similarity is leg zippers and split thighs.

So CSKA can't get high end equipment? What does this say about the KHL? They're going to say there are a legitimate contender with the NHL but they can't get top of the line products?

Something doesn't sit just right here. Also, availability does not effect the quality of the product. The fact that I can't get a decent espresso in my neighborhood does not make Starbucks the best coffee on earth.

Rollerpop is pretty much right on the money. If you want something smaller and lighter than your XXXLite, don't even bother with Tackla. Their mid level stuff is pretty much the same as everyone else and their top end stuff is a bit more bulky than most others, but doesn't cause any mobility issues.

re supply - not sure about the pro clubs (according to the original poster they aren't doing that great either), but from what I observed in general the hockey market in Russia is still in it's infancy

I was in Moscow this August & people were still drooling about XXV easily willing to pay over $500 for these ($1000 for XXXX)

hockey shops are few & far in between, plus ebay sellers usually don't ship to Russia

The captain of my team works at the rink LHS and there were a bunch of Russians in for a tournament a few months back or something. He said they were dropping like 20k a day for a week buying EVERYTHING.

Same thing happens here when we get a few eastern european teams in for tournaments.

Why did you say that CSKA can't get high-end equip? I've never said this.

They have a lot of "pro" stock - i.e. Nike (just Nike!) prof pants - i've never seen pants like that, but these pants are very expensive (~300USD)

You know, you have to understand some things about RU

In low-value segments of markets (like hockey equip market) we have not a right competiton with markets rules, RRP, prices protection and such things

Most part of hockey equipment imports to RU with the "customs tricks" and usually LHSs gets a goods from unofficial channels of sales like "gray market"

We can choose only stuff that nearest LHS has - if they doesn't have Tacklas i cant buy it!

You're absolutely right

I've paid for my new 95s ~800USD - it was very low price, with HUGE discount -))

First game with the 9000s today. They need break in and hopefully that doesn't take forever. Impressive how consistent the weight stays through a game as the moisture management is so good.

Believe me after about six to eight outings you'll start noticing how good the fit is. Yes, they need to loosen up a bit but they do break in a little faster than North American made pants. I was quite pleasantly surprised with my 5000 Airs and I wouldn't trade them for anything out there right now. Definitely the best made Euro fit pant out there on the market right now.

Ok, so I got the 9000's and the 951 Canadian versions. I don't like either. I think they are both well made pants but the 9000's are tanks and the 951's are not enough.

I was in my LHS and tried on the One90's. I really like the way they fit and the weight.

My question: What is the difference between the Bauer 8000(from Canada) and the One90? And is there any change between the One90 and next years One95?

Thanks
