Skates for Wide/Flat Feet

Recommended Posts

I quit hockey a few years ago because of really bad pain in my feet, but now I'm looking to get back into the game and am looking for skates that are good for wide and flat feet. I've read good things about Graf skates but they're pretty expensive and while I could ultimately afford them I would prefer to look for a solid lower-priced alternative, any recommendations?

I'm in the same boat, well my feet look like boats...wide and flat also...based on your post though skates have come a long way over the last few years and some of the inserts (Superfeet, Shock Doctor) have really made skates fit alot better for people with wide flat feet. You will need to go out and try on the new skates (all brands). After everyone told me CCM and RBK would be best for my feet I ended up with NBH one90s with yellow Superfeet and they work very well for me. Still some pain if I stand still for a long time, but better than my old Tacks or just about anything I had worn in the past. Try on as many skates as you can, you may need to spend a little more cash than people with easy to fit feet to be comfortable but it is worth every penny when you find the right skates.

someone told me that bauer skates already have superfeet in them, is that true? is there a major difference between those and the seperately purchased ones?

I believe the Vapor series comes with Bauer branded Superfeet. Not 100% sure though.

They come with "SuperFit", no plastic arch and heel cup.

Well just an update, I bought a pair of vapor velocitys and the arch felt great but apparently even double E is a little too small for me lol, so I'll be exchanging them for triple Es or maybe getting the ones I have punched. Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

Not to be rude, but why would you ask for suggestions, and then opt for a skate last that is suited for narrow, high arched feet, despite the EE width?

Can you get a even get a EEE skate, unless it is custom and most companies if they do custom orders do it on there high end skates and that is not a option for you if you are low on cash.

I love how so many people say G70s.

Unless you have a heel that works in the G70s (lots don't), it's not the right skate no matter how the mid/fore foot fits.

I like duch's suggestion of the flexlite. I prefer that approach of working a tight heel loose.

I have wide feet and had problems with nike bauers, i had to bump them out many times. Then i got eastons and they were perfect for my feet, very comfortable. Both the Stealths and the SE's are perfect for wide feet

i have the same problem

i was fitted for a g9 and the one75's

the g9 fit better but were too short (in a wide)

the one75 is a tad bit narrower but seems to feel okay still after being stretched and baked.

i would try either 709, g9 or g9 supra

I am in your exact position right now. I had to give up ice hockey because of my flat feet. I've had success with rbk inline skates. I am desperate to try out the rbk ice skates but I am scared of dropping $250 minimum and then my feet hurt again. But I think the RBK skates have the flattest arch for non customized skates. Can anyone else comment on this? I'd love to get back into ice hockey with no pain with my feet!

I ended up with rbk 5k's and I like the fit, not crazy about the pump. I recently found a used pair of 709's for $30 to convert for roller. I never tried a Graf skate before but I have to say, these things fit very well...especially the heel. I kind of wish I kept these for ice and converted the rbk's for roller.

you can always swap the two when you get some spare cash. it would probably benefit you as well.

If you wanted advice, you probably would have benefited from listening. Nobody said anything about Vapors as a wide fitting skate; they are actually known to be narrow-fitting skates, as previously mentioned.

Easton would have been a good choice. RBK would have been a good choice. Even Bauer's Supreme line would have been better than Vapors for wide feet. But alas, you have already purchased them. Good luck, anyway.

I had the same problem. You gotta get the G70 graf. I tried on all the other companies skates and they all hurt the arch of your foot/

i was under the impression G70's were for wide feet with mid/high arches.
