Is Wilson anything special? Its surprising to see Atlanta trade Williams so far before the deadline.

Hockey's Future rated him a 6.0 B.

6 - Third line forward / No. 5-6 defenseman / Backup Goaltender -- generally speaking, players whose game is defensively-oriented, or whose abilities aren't quite good enough to land full-time duty on the 2nd line, top two defensive pairings, or the No. 1 goaltending position. Think Kris Draper, Stephanne Yelle, Igor Ulanov, Brad Lukowich, Jussi Markkanen, Manny Legace.

...

B - Should reach potential, could drop 1 rating - likely to reach potential, but may have a hole or two in his game that will keep him from reaching his full potential. The potential rating is multiplied by 90 percent for depth chart purposes, which indicates slightly less certainty about a player’s future performance.

I like this trade, as long as we don't expect too much for Williams. It's forward depth that will help with the injury problems that they have been having.

Wilson is a 6th or 7th defenceman at best on any NHL team, a puck moving PP specialist. He could not crack Columbus' top 8 this year, and with the upcoming youngsters running through the system (Ruth, Goloubef, Clitsome and Weber), it would have been a long shot to say the least for Clay to stay on the big club for an extended period of time.

This will likely send Filatov headed back to the AHL which is too bad, but it is pointless for him to stay up here if Hitch will only play him 7 minutes a game. I really hope Picard stays up with the big club though, it really looks like he is starting to fit in.

Leclaire is out for the year with his recurring ankle injury issue. Good thing we picked Dubielewicz off waivers from the Island.

Regher better be suspended. You are responsible for your stick no matter what, He cross checked him in the face. ill be disappointed if nothing is done about that.

Lovely. They just pissed away 3 points in 2 nights. Hopefully they are as frustrated as I am.

They need to rest up and come back from the break gunning, no more leaving points on the table.

Mason's seventh shutout catapults the Jackets into 5th in the West.

To bring back an old NHL commercial catchphrase, "Is this the year?"

I was at the game tonite, had great seats on the goal line and saw Mase at work during the third...he looked excellent. also, it seemed like the whole third period was a PK and it looked like a great team effort to kill them all (props to Commodore for giving up the body to make a great block). The house seemed full and very excited. Go Jackets

My wife offered to buy me tickets for the game but I passed. I would have had to spend the rest of the weekend in Pittsburgh so it was a no-brainer for me.

I guess he's had it for a while which is why he skipped All Star Weekend. I hope he hangs in there cuz Wade was struggling during the Stars game.

Where do they keep finding these goalies?!? Great game tonight and Saturday night against the Sharks. I really hope this is the year they make the postseason.

Looks like I may be talking to myself based on the recent lack of posts but here goes anyways...

It was nice to see them overcome some obvious fatigue and gut it out for the win tonight in Toronto. Mason looked incredible as usual and that last-second goal at the end of the first was huge for their momentum.

If anyone saw the shootout and the interview with Jason Williams afterwards, I was cracking up when he was saying that goal was intentional. Maybe it was, but it sure looked like he just whiffed on the forehand to backhand.

A playoff appearance is starting to look like a real possibility.

I've seen people pull off that move on purpose before (but never in the NHL). Kinda reminded me of Vanek's move combined with Kovalev's breakaway from the ASG.

He meant to do that move. I was at the game, sitting right behind the leafs net. Impressive, but incredibly risky. My dad told me that Hitch confirmed it in the post game presser.

That was a huge win, I don't know how they got 2 points for that effort. I really want Antropov on the Jackets, but I'm afraid that Burke's asking price might be a bit high. I wouldn't mind Dominic Moore on the Jackets either.

Jackets picked up Gratton off of waivers...he will give them third / fourth line center depth and add some grittiness to the team.

I'm starting to get a little worried. Hopefully they regain some of the spark they had a few weeks ago. If not this is going to be a major disappointment.

They've moved away from the hockey they were playing earlier. They just need to regain their form a bit. I think with Vermette being added helps too since they can get some scoring going again. The past couple weeks the Jackets have been in games despite their poor play, but can't score enough to mount the comeback. It's positive though that they remain in the #7 spot.

Why do they beat the tough teams (San Jose, Detroit) and lose to the guys they should beat? Oh well, good game last night.
