Avery IS back on the Rangers

Recommended Posts

As if any AHL team would take on Avery in their locker room/roster just to have a free player? Why do you think Sather was in Dallas last week?

Because the Rangers played the Stars?

to shoot guns?

uhhh....*removes finger from nose* to see just how much faster the implosion of the Rangers would be with Avery back in a Blueshirt?

didnt that already happen? ;) Unless the drury, gomez rozzival and redden contracts were handed out because they are young players with LOADS of potential... Id hope they didnt hand those out to superstars in their 'prime'..

To see about adding a free player to his AHL roster?

Don't forget about Rissmiller... now Hartford will have 2 players getting paid over a million dollars each (I think Rissmiller is right about 1 mil if not a little more, could be wrong, who knows he may not even be with Hartford as far as I know since I haven't heard anything about him in a while).

Maybe we can get Jagr back from Russia? Ooh better idea, maybe we can sign Ray Emery so Avery can have a tag team partner for the Rangers circus.

I don't understand why everyone is so surprised about the Rangers bringing back Avery. The team is going through it's usual mid-season dive. They have to shake something up. This is just the 2008-2009 version of what happens every season. Of course, it usually doesn't work out but that's the Rangers. It's not like this is the first time.

Emery is still a decent tendy, if he only didn't have a mouth and a Hummer.

Rissmiller is still with Hartford!

ok it's time to bring Avery back, they really need something to bring some life back into them and he just may be the guy to do it. Besides, I don't think they could get any worse by bringing him back.

Yeah, Avery is just the guy to bring a team out of a tailspin. All he'll do is bring the ground closer. What the Rags need is a new direction from behind the bench.

Finally got a chance to watch a couple consecutive Ranger games over the last couple days and have to say that the coaching really confuses me. You would see a combination put together a couple good shifts in a row, then suddenly they get split up. You have to have a feel for what's working and Renney doesn't seem to have that.

In their own zone, nobody seems to know where they're supposed to be. It makes me wonder what "system" they use in their own zone and how well it has been communicated to the players. It would be one thing if it was just one or two guys but the vast majority of the team seems to have problems in their own end. That indicates a coach that is either using a vague system, one that is overly complex or just poor communication from the staff to the players.

Combine that with a GM that has overloaded the system with interchangeable third line level guys and left them without enough cap space to make a deal to fix the holes they do have. It's an ugly situation and the only way to fix it is to clean out management and start with new leadership.

Good Point.. Seems like on the Powerplay they dont know when to SHOOT! Or trying to get it to the net but always being blocked by the opposing player

I don't think the teams problem is knowing when to shoot on a power play or opposing players blocking shots, that stuff happens all the time on the power play.

Judging by tonight's performance (and its not always fair to do that), the Rangers look like an unmotivated and undisciplined team. Easiest solution for that is giving Renney the ax.

Oh believe me, it's more than fair. The Rangers are just impossibly bad (well not really, but it reminds you of '97-'03). I was always a fan of Renney for how he managed to get the most out of Jagr while he was in New York, but it's looking like this team has no desire to play for him at all.

With all the Avery talk on TSN...I can't even remember....what was Torts opinion....leave him gone or take him back in the League?

I'll add it to this thread since this seems to be the more "Avery-related" thread, but as I posted in the Renney thread, Torts had this to say during TSN's NHL Quiz:

Question No. 2: Should the New York Rangers bring back Sean Avery?

John Tortorella: No, and I don't even want to talk about Avery.
