Mission glove appreciation thread

Recommended Posts

I've got a pair of mission matrix gloves a few years ago, and they are still going strong. Palms get crusty, but still pretty good condition.

I love the glove so much, I bought 2 more pairs as backups. Not into the latest and greatest, stickign with those matrix.

There are multiple pairs of Mission C4 gloves at my lhs for 50 bucks, has anyone had a pair and liked them or should I steer clear?

I'm aware they are a low-end, but maybe they made a mistake and made them good????

I've got these sitting in the garage. Nice gloves, they're just a little flashy. Plus they're 15's and they just about come up to my elbows.

The white ones really grew on me, but I wasn't a huge fan at first. I just wish the retail heliums had longer fingers.

I was a little surprised at that too. The fingers on the 15" are shorter than the fingers on my 14" X72's.

FYI, those pair came to me via Chadd, then to you.

I didn't keep them since the fingers were so short. Loved the softness and the overall backhand taper though. I'm done with 14" Gloves now. I have a set of 14" porto M1s in Red/White/Blue that I'll keep unless a 15" pair shows up, and I'm trying to ditch my 14" PPFs. Other than that my 15" 4-rolls and 14.5" Eagles are my go-to duo.

I'll agree with TBL. Looking at older gloves, the new stuff that frays and shreds is a step back. I blame the shift to Chinese manufacturing and the "need"/want for an ever-lighter glove.

Had a pair of black m-2'for my highschool team and a red black and silver pair of m-1's for my travel team. It was a sad day when the black pair got stolen from my bag... still miss them

Better protection I guess. With these gloves, the fingers are soo deep and with digital gussets the finger padding barely moves and your hand is closed.

And Chadd got them from me. That is a long way to go to end up back in WA.

Quick question, do the wrap-around index finger guards that were on the M-1 and Warp have an official name? I always liked those.

Here are a couple of comparison pics...

As you see, the angle is slightly off but the difference is a little over half an inch in gusset depth AND digital stretches.

And this one is specific for the wrap index finger(which I don't know the official name, if there is one):

I'd love to see some more gloves, specifically some of those that came from Justin a few months ago. I have some pics saved but I'd like to see pics from the members that own the gloves in case there are any questions. :)

I would post some of mine but I don't want this to be a look-at-me thread(I mean specifically me).

The wrapped blocks on the index was one of the things I didn't like about the M1 pair I have. Call me crazy, but I catch my stick on the lower hand ones a lot. Mine look a lot wider than what TBL posted above.

Super tight and very good quality construction though. Lovely glove, and to think no one picked it up when I tried selling it a few months ago. I think I got mine from Monty or Fletch a while back.

None of my other gloves, not even my PPFs, have such nice gusset and binding stitching through the glove.

Index blocks.

Not sure if I want to get them repalmed. Really want to find a pair of 13" Nylon M-1 in all black.

All my M-1's have plastic inserts over the foam, but a lot of M-1's I have seen do not. What's the deal with that?

are your M-1's pro gloves ?

On another note, I got a couple of pro M-1's and to be honest I think I prefer some of the other brands like TPS and Itech. The Missions feel pretty comfy in the hand but I feel they could be a bit lighter and stiffer. When I use a stiffer glove I feel I can shoot harder. Well to each their own I guess.

RIP to my navy and blue M1 pros. Wore 'em my freshman year, then my baby blue nbh fetish began...

There's probably no way we can get a last MSH order of Missions before all is done, is there?

I love my M-1's... It took me about 6 decent bidding wars before I got my pair.. I'd like to get a few more too. I love the roomy-ness.

Sadly being a newbie to ice hockey, I was late to the "Mission party", and just after I grew fond of all of their stuff, the buyout happened. *sigh*

It took a lot of restraint, and a very angry Mrs. to not go bananas when Justin unloaded a lot of goodies.

Ouch dude! Ouch.

(kidding)

I agree the M-1 were great gloves, but the fingers were a bit long for my hands. Those wrap around pads on the index bugged me too. I remember see some pro-stock on ebay without those finger pads.

I would take some 13" M-1s in a sec.

Didnt Justin have a fire sale on here last summer/fall? I bought a really nice pair of U of MN M-1 gloves for a steal. They're a well-built glove. TBL? Why do you think glove manufacture has declined across the board? I really dont buy stock gloves other than my retail NBH 4 rolls & Sande gloves

You want the best example, take a look at TPS gloves. Look at the original R8 Pro models and compare it to the latest R8s and R10 gloves. They feel and look cheap. Look at RBK retail gloves. The list goes on but that's not what the thread is about.

I wish I could get my hands on these for under $100. I think these went for $120 on eBay.

I have a pair of the black Bilt-Rites in immaculate condition - i'll post a pic tomorrow. Had 2 pairs, kept these ones good somehow...

Sorry!

Yeah, the finger guard just gets on me. Try the helium series in 14", they have shorter fingers.

I tried the M-1's on yesterday and didn't dig them that much, felt very stiff compared to my X70's. Though it's hard to judge before being broken in.

I also preferred the palm on the Eagles too, but the palms on my old Mission 3 fingers weren't super either, and it never seemed to affect my play.
