Do you get excited about equipment breaking?

Recommended Posts

So I just noticed my ls2 power holder broke/cracked today. Instead of being pissed at bauer make such a crap holder I was totally stoked because it gave me an excuse to buy new skates. Is this normal, or do I have a major case of gearwhore-itis?

Or you could just buy new holders.

I gotta try this... my tires are near the end of their tread life, maybe I can talk my wife into buying a new car.

Shit, I gave up on making excuses for getting new equipment, now I just buy.

One of the first ten steps to recovery....recognizing the addiction and accepting the fact that you can not control it.

Life is short. Go for it and enjoy

that's a pretty good excuse, I never thought a broken holder leads to new skates. Next stage is when a bad tape job leads to a new twig

That was good, I had a good laugh.

Yup, I carry a little razor with me and put a "slice" on whatever i want to replace, then show my wife. if that don't work, I try to get a bruise, so for "safety' reasons, I need to get new gear. Almost works every time. Now that's a gear-whore!

I also feel like that honestly, nothing feels better then buying new gear. Just love it. I rotate my gear, i never change my elbow pads, shoulder pads and pants unless i have to or have to get them in a different color, but there always tacklas. The rest is fun, i usually get a new ops when the other one starts feeling soft or looking bad, whichever comes first. Skates are my favorite to buy but i usually limit it to once a season seeing as there close to $850 with the tax, if not more. You my friend are a gearwhore, its not bad, embrace it. Just remember, never buy anything on credit cards, thats when you start to get carried away.

I have more faith in hockey than I do in the government so I think buying new gear is the best bail out plan. Makes for a great sounding excuse, right?
