What do you drink on the bench?

Recommended Posts

I drink well water.

I used to go to a drop in where some guy in a Yzerman jersey would suck down a 2-liter of Mt. Dew in an hour...

His teeth were all brown and needle-like.

Meth mouth?!

For some reason, my body isn't telling me to drink between shifts.

If you wait till your body tells you to drink it is too late and your body is dehydrated. You have to be pro-active with your hydration.

Before I drink Maximuscle Viper Extreme (Lots of caffeine which makes you more alert)

Doesn't taste great but I find it works well!

As great as 1.50 a pop is, man that shipping is steep. 8.90 to shit a 1.50 bottle.

Plus, I'd think it's be kinda painful to shit a bottle that size.

Yeah, that seems like it would be the case, but when I drink between shifts, I feel bloated and my stomach hurts the rest of the game. Even if I just take a couple sips, or swish around and spit out.

I appear to be the odd one out, the exception to the rule.

haha

I bought 8, makes sense if you get some for the family/team. Great for soccer, baseball, whatever. Plus they have the packs of powder and liquid concentrate for cheap so just nab it all at once.

Yup, there is no hard rule when it comes to the human body. You have to find what works best for you and stick with it. If you pee after the game and it is dark yellow then you might have a problem. Normally, mine is clear after hockey so everything is normal. But, I feel better when I drink Smart Water rather than regular bottled water during games. Could be mental but it works for me.

It must be an individual thing. Usually I drink 3/4 of a Mueller quart size water bottle on the bench and never have a problem. Sometimes it's less or more depending on the game, and I've even run out of water before.

Half a scoop of Gatorade in a quart of water. So, diluted Gatorade.

And get the powder. $10 for a giant can that lasts forever.

or 24 591ml bottles for $15 at costco.

And the $10 can makes six gallons, which is about 50% more for 50% less money.

the 24 pack isn't diluted, so you're not comparing apples to apples. even if i did a half and half dilution with water, i'd get more than 6 gallons (closer to 7.5) out of the case.... and i don't even have to stir!!!!

oh, and $10 is 33 percent less than $15, not 50.

I usually drink water and Gatorade but this thread got me thinking about the best player on my team who also happens to be in the best shape. He drinks Accelerade on the bench. I think I'm gonna try it out for a few games and see if I notice a difference.
