Who will Easton's Sakic curve be named after now?

Parise or Toews seem like the best choices.

As for Joe I will always remember his lightning quick wrister rippling the back of the net..what a thing of beauty.

It's a Joe thread, but I have always thought of Burnaby Joe and Stevie Y in the highest regard, pure class.

Play with the same team their entire career, play hard every night, mentor young guys, lead teams to cups (& gold medals) and know when to shut it down.

To quote Don Cherry...

"Now watch Joe Sakic, he's the master of the wrist shot, y'know his dad used to make him shot 500 pucks a day? Thats why he IS the master, watch Joe, he's a beauty!"

One of the greatest players, skill, skating and most of all an amazing person off the rink as well.

Couldn't agree more. What better mentor could young hockey players have than either one of these two.

Will miss Mr Sakic but it's about time.

He was a point-per-game two years ago, .9 PPG last year and .8 PPG this year, each of which had less talent on the roster than previous seasons. One could argue he was becoming brittle, because he missed 48 games last year and 67 this year, but his major injury this season came from his snowblower.

The bottom line is I don't think he was embarrassing himself by hanging around two long.

An absolute class act. There just aren't many players with the same level of class and skill as Sakic imo. He and Yzerman were the pinnacle. End of an era.

And this is coming from a life-long wings fan. Joe I will miss you.
