I might be wrong but I think I read somewhere that Bret Hull used to use Intermediate sticks.... 65 Flex's or so.... snapped 10 a game but it worked B)

His game used sticks have been known to range anywhere from 65 up to 100 flex, perhaps a 105 on his old Pro Gold aluminums.

He loved the whip shaft we made for him, which was different than the retail whip that came out after the fact.

Different? How so?

They were whippier than the retail whip and what the retail whip SHOULD'VE been. His shafts were QC'd to where they were +/- 1 flex point whereas a retail shaft was much greater than that.

Retail whip was 70-75ish on a standard (Easton) scale, correct? I guess that's where his 65 came from? Anything else special about his shafts?

If you like the sakic curve, then a chuck kobasew is the perfect stick. I am still searching for more of his one95s

Hate it. PM9 all the way.

Didn't you "flip" XN10 shafts for him, changing the taper?

I'm interested to learn more about this. "Flip" the shaft as in having the kickpoint be extremely high?

Ah those Duchy Reeboks are filthy, any idea whats below the "9" with the wings and what not?

MD - Matt Duchene

#9 - He wears #9 with Colorado

Wings - He's an angel.

No, as in the taper being in the hand. The whip shaft on the XN10 flexed the same at both ends.

Ah, primarily for the smaller grip? Perhaps my favorite shaft ever is an original silver Synergy that broke, so I chopped the blade and flipped it. Enjoyed the tapered grip ever since.

It just says MD, doesn't it? Matt Duchene.

Damn, I just realized I was reading the last page when I posted that.

Is it me, or are a lot of pros now using Warrior sticks?

IMO, I feel like Warrior actually lost some pros this season. Could be my imagination. For instance, everyone (except Jovo) on the Yotes that was using Warrior is no longer. Doaner and Mules (when he was still there) switched to Easton and Winnik is using Bauer. They all stayed in Warrior gloves, but switched out of the sticks. Around the league too, it seems like a lot of pros that were using Warrior switched to Easton. I'll do some more digging for specific examples. Be that as it may, it still won't sway me from not using Warrior. Consistently my favorite stick now that TPS is no more.

Side note, Radim Vrbata, recently a heavy Easton user, used Ballistik/Combat sticks for the majority of the second half of the season.

It's pretty evident that the top 3 companies in the NHL in terms of sticks are Easton, Warrior, and Bauer. Many players switch back and forth between all three of them. Some of the players coming into the league in the past 3 years or so have been seen completely outfitted in 2 or all 3 of those brands. I'd say that it's fairly clear you can be confident using any of those companys' sticks, although the "pro stock vs. retail" does come into debate. The S19 is sure sweeping the NHL though, converting some of the hardcore Bauer guys like Phil Kessel and Malkin.

Just expanding on your thought and adding my own, that's all.

malkin isnt what i'd call "hardcore" bauer.

Perhaps not in terms of all of his gear, but he's been using their different sticks for quite some time now.

Aren't alot of the s19's just repainted se16's? I've seen alot of s19's pro stock on ebay that are just se16's, Im assuming to make it look like eastons top end stick is more popular than it really is, not to say that it isnt still pretty popular.

True, there are a pretty decent amount like that. Heard that supposedly a good amount of the SE16s are actually older model Synergys as well.

They kinda look like the 4 roll pros, but with a different palm and cuff on the palm side.

Nothing special, just a new, bigger, logo. That cuff design is the same as it has been for years. Smart design, you can remove padding to open up the glove with a seam ripper and it looks like it came that way.

Ton of STs with S17/S19 graphics.

Just watched the USA vs Germany game at the World Championships a while ago and noticed Brandon Dubinsky (#17 on Team USA) sporting some skates with black Tuuks, didn't get a good view of the skates though so I couldn't tell what they were or if it was just some regular model like One 95's with black Tuuks? Looked pretty good though from what I could see, they should bring back the black Tuuks as an option at least.

Jagr had them too in the olympics! I think they are the new one100 LE's
