Another serious injury in the KHL

Recommended Posts

When it's that badly run? If they're paying you a few million, they can afford to have a real stretcher around. If his neck was broken, he could very well be killed by being moved on a tarp like that.

Put a defibrillator in, keep an ambulance on speed dial.... These are incredibly basic things.

How can Richard Zednik feel safe after what happened to him and what's happened here?

He probably feels safer than anyone....seriously...what are the odds of something that freak happening twice to the same guy?? There aren't many multiple lotto winners...very few get struck by lightning TWICE.

Isn't at least part of this the lack of safety regulation/enforcement by Russian government? High school football games have EMT's on hand by rule.

The government has nothing to do with it, high school sports oversight bodies created the rules. Nothing is stopping the KHL from having medical staff on hand, which frankly when you're playing a contact sport on a surface that's harder than concrete would seem like a no brainer. If you've got a league paying million dollar salaries it doesn't seem like it'd be too much for them to afford a couple of medics at the games. Nor should it be necessary for the government to compel them to take reasonable measures to ensure player safety.

Thats what I was just thinking. I mean KHL is good hockey and great pay, but there way of handling emergenices is a fuckin' joke. Best of luck to Martin Kariya I will keep him in my prayers

Carried off the ice in a tarp. Yes, this league is a threat. A threat to any player's life in the league.

At least they didn't drop him: 1:15 mark.

lol just because I know Modano was fine, that's funny. What year was that?

So far we've had at least one carried off NHL ice in the preseason, I'm not sure how the KHL is worse in that regard. No medical care in the world can prevent someone from trying to main another player; NHL, AHL or KHL.

Actually if anything the KHL is better in preventing dangerous hits because the bigger surface decreaes hitting. However though like I said their medical care is piss poor

Did they use a tarp in the NHL game also?

No medical care in the world would have saved the Ranger prospect once he collapsed.

Probably not, but having a defibilator on the bench and the paramedics actually there would have helped. But my main argument is about the tarp, you would never see that in any sports league in America when a head injury is involved

If you did you would see about 10 people without a job shortly there after.

And lawsuits up the ass.

Holy shit yes. It would be on the news for months too. And in response to Chadd saying that any medical care wouldn't have saved Chrepanov once he collapsed, how come Jiri Fischer is still alive today? He collapsed too on the bench but thanks to attentive teammates and a very professional medical staff he still lives today
