cptjeff 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2009 When it's that badly run? If they're paying you a few million, they can afford to have a real stretcher around. If his neck was broken, he could very well be killed by being moved on a tarp like that. Put a defibrillator in, keep an ambulance on speed dial.... These are incredibly basic things. furlanitalia 1 Report post Posted September 22, 2009 That's a joke. I don't care what they're paying, money isn't worth anything if you're dead.

RecLeagueHero 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2009 Yeah, I gotta be honest: I can't see how a league with clubs that can afford those kind of salaries doesn't have basic things required at a high school football game.
lampliter87 8 Report post Posted September 22, 2009 Isn't at least part of this the lack of safety regulation/enforcement by Russian government? High school football games have EMT's on hand by rule.

RecLeagueHero 0 Report post Posted September 23, 2009 Isn't at least part of this the lack of safety regulation/enforcement by Russian government? High school football games have EMT's on hand by rule. The government has nothing to do with it, high school sports oversight bodies created the rules. Nothing is stopping the KHL from having medical staff on hand, which frankly when you're playing a contact sport on a surface that's harder than concrete would seem like a no brainer. If you've got a league paying million dollar salaries it doesn't seem like it'd be too much for them to afford a couple of medics at the games. Nor should it be necessary for the government to compel them to take reasonable measures to ensure player safety.

Best of luck to Martin Kariya I will keep him in my prayers

Chadd 916 Report post Posted September 23, 2009 So far we've had at least one carried off NHL ice in the preseason, I'm not sure how the KHL is worse in that regard. No medical care in the world can prevent someone from trying to main another player; NHL, AHL or KHL.

No medical care in the world can prevent someone from trying to main another player; NHL, AHL or KHL.Actually if anything the KHL is better in preventing dangerous hits because the bigger surface decreaes hitting. However though like I said their medical care is piss poor

But my main argument is about the tarp, you would never see that in any sports league in America when a head injury is involved

kovyperron5727 0 Report post Posted September 23, 2009 And lawsuits up the ass.Holy shit yes. It would be on the news for months too. And in response to Chadd saying that any medical care wouldn't have saved Chrepanov once he collapsed, how come Jiri Fischer is still alive today? He collapsed too on the bench but thanks to attentive teammates and a very professional medical staff he still lives today
