Harrow 300 Grip Shift

Recommended Posts

Today i went to my LHS to look around for sticks, i saw that there was a harrow 300gs shaft, i picked it up and i thought it felt nice, and it was nicely balanced, so my question is, does anyone have an experience with harrow shafts (not just the 300gs)? This shaft was in a 60 flex (im a small guy) and i was looking to put an X:60 wood blade on it.

i used a harrow 300 shaft for almost 8 months

i got mine for free as a demo since harrow is sponsoring our whole league (acha)

shaft lated a long time and had good performance, i liked it as much as my current xxxx shaft

i was really surprised with the balance of the stick, even with a wood blade, overall one of my favorites

I've had mine for almost a yr now and it's honestly the best shaft I've used. I've found it still flexes well for me after cutting off about 6 inches from a 75 flx. My only gripe with the tapered shaft is finding a tapered blade that I haven't had to shave part of the hosel off so it would fit.

We have a Harrow rep here in Melbourne, who is also a player. Allot of guys use the brand and I haven't heard allot of grumblings, none at all. Especially surprising considering that some of the Harrow users are picky as hell, when it comes to gear and performance.

ok thanks for all the feedback guys. Now i have a different question, as i mentioned, i wanted to put a wood X60 blade on it, so what wood blade would you recommend? I personally like wood blades because i like the feel of it.

I did see a few of them at Nationals last month... didnt get a chance to have an upclose look though.

i know mine was suppose to be a 100 flex shaft, when i cut it down it was at the 115 flex line

playing with the stick it felt much softer, 95-100 range, if you like a 85, the 96 should work well for you

Does anyone know the origin of these?

I doubt Harrow has their own factory in Taiwan, so are these 2nd's of other sticks? Excess production?

Or just same production lines, slightly modified specs?

Harrow has combined with Christian and over time (more recently) narrowed out the Christian name to nothing. I am guessing they are actually making up their own sticks first hand with the help of Christian just because they have been in the lacrosse industry for quite a few years and could be using the same factory they make the composite lacrosse shafts/sticks in to make the hockey shafts/blades as well.

digging up and old post here, but anyway just wondering if anyone can comment on the weight of this shaft. Its listed as 365 grams, which if correct seems like a it would end up as a blade light combo

Just because they don't own the factory doesn't mean the sticks have to be seconds. It's very easy to have sticks produced in smaller quantities, though having them made to your specs is the key.

I'm not sure if Christian ever helped Harrow make sticks, I believe they bought the company in name when if went bankrupt and shut down the Warroad MN plant shortly after it was purchased from the Christian's. Harrow recently sold the Christian name to a group in Roseau MN where the sticks are being made again.

I just found a Harrow 300 OPS at PIAS for $25. They had it listed as used because it had a storage scratch on the shaft but it's never seen the ice. Couldn't resist at that price.

A couple years ago a guy that worked for Harrow told me they were importing shafts/blades from Asia and fusing them at the shop here in CO.

My 300 shaft is supposed to be here today, so if anyone is considering one of these and wants to hear feedback, I can post back once I get it on the ice. I've used a Harrow composite blade before, and really liked it. I have another coming with the shaft, just couldn't pass it up on the 50% off deal.

Just wanted to bump this to give some feedback on the 300 shaft I bought. I didn't get the 'grip shift,' just a regular white 300 with the matte rubber finish. The shaft's listed at 365 grams, but feels a little lighter than that. I put a Harrow 300 #6 curve in it (Sakic/Naslund). The blades are listed at 150 grams, but the balance is good. Like most two pieces it's a little blade heavy, but not nearly as bad as my Synergy II/Harrow two piece. It feels similarly balanced to my RBK 7V* pro stock.

The matte rubber finish on it is really nice. Rubbery finish, but not tacky. I wish all of my sticks had this coating on it. Stick felt good on the ice, although I only had a few minutes to use it in warm-ups. I'll get to use it more tomorrow night and do some more shooting and stickhandling. After skating with it last night though, I was pretty impressed. I ordered another one last night since I have more blades on the way. Especially with the 50% deal right now, I'd recommend picking one of these up if you need a new shaft. It looks even better in person too.

I couldn't resist this deal any longer. I just ordered an Int. Shaft, one Iginla clone & three Sakic clones. I couldn't help myself, so much for my new gloves. Oops...

I've needed a new composite stick for a while and decided to go headlong and snatch two 300gs shafts with a couple of blades at the half-off price.

I got them a couple of weeks ago and so far, they're working out pretty well. I usually never go for grip shafts because my bottom hand always sticks whenever I'm stickhandling. That said, the grip shift finish works pretty much as advertised, and I like it. The matte rubber on the top has the texture of a chalkboard. Below that, it transitions into a tacky, but not sticky, grip coating. It holds on for slapshots but doesn't seem to get in the way for wristers .

The stick loads pretty well and even though it is a little blade heavy, I'm not finding my shots really going anywhere wildly off.

The shaft had a really small "MADE IN CHINA" sticker at the butt end, so maybe that clears up any questions on the origin. I didn't notice any similar indication on the blades.

One thing to note: the shaft is long! Even without a butt-end, it was about two inches longer than where I like my usual sticks for my 6'-0" frame. I got the 77 flex one. By trimming it down to the normal length, the guide indicated an 87 flex rating.

BUMP.

Hattrick and others - How are you all liking your shafts? The 50% of deal has me tempted to try the 300 Shaft. Also, could anybody comment on the different grips? Glossy-Grip vs. Matte Rubber. Is the Glossy-Grip similar to Bauer's Tactile/Warrior's Nipple Grip? Would the Matte Rubber finish be similar to the grip on the NBH XXX-Lite? Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I can't answer any of the above questions, but I am looking forward to trying my new 300 shaft/blade combo out tomorrow (that 50% off deal sucked me in).

I am leaving it uncut at the moment just to try it. But it's probably a bit long out of the box. In hind sight I should have gotten a 77 flex with intent to cut. Right now when I cut the 85 i got to where I need it, it'll be in the 100+ flex. That's will be a little much for this bender.

I picked up a Harrow 300 shaft last month and plan on selling it on eBay. If anyone is interested, PM me - $50 shipped in US. I cut it and used it for about 15-20 minutes of open ice shoot around. I really like the Matte feel and flex (75 flex), but the corners are not square enough for me - even though the shaft is the concave version. I would say that the shaft dimensions feel like a Vapor shaft. I prefer a very boxy, square, concave shaft, like Mission.
