Balzinsker 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2010 The U.S. appear to have bred forward lines of slightly taller Jason Blake clones. Those would be Matthew Lombardis then. What did stick out a lot in the game was that the American players had unbelievable speed that allowed them to win most puck battles. But as soon as they got it they became very robotic in their game-play. To me it seemed that the Americans were better athletes where as the Canadians were better hockey players. Da Beez 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2010 This should be an excellent game, I think Canada will have to play their best game of the tournament in order to win.
Hidious 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2010 ***SPOILER ALERT*****I can't believe the end of the 3rd i just witnessed! USA looked paralyzed. I hope they can find their focus back for the OT, because this is not going to take long otherwise.

J22 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2010 The US is lucky that there is an intermision to help them regroup. 4 on 4 is all about speed and d-men getting involved, i think the US has the advantage in both categories. Great game horrible goaltending so far

james12lucy 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2010 This intermission is the worst thing to happen to Canada. I think if there was 40 more seconds in the third, Canada would already be wearing the medals. I can't believe how clutch Eberle is; absolutely phenomenal! Patrick67 1 Report post Posted January 6, 2010 Crazy game, best hockey game I've seen since the Russia - Canada 2008 WC final.Kreider's shot was insane, besides that the speed difference between the US forwards and (most of) Canada's D was noticeable.Canada was the better team, but the US played to their strenghts. Law Goalie 147 Report post Posted January 6, 2010 Hell of a game. Jack Campbell hugely outplayed Jake Allen, despite both giving up 5.Conspiracy theory/ridiculous excuse of the minute: Americans on FBV, Canadians on ROH? :)

EBondo 233 Report post Posted January 6, 2010 I don't know if I'm the only one with this opinion, but I would much rather watch this kind of hockey than that of the NHL. People playing for NHL Draft positions, their countries, not for a paycheck. Great game, indeed. Jordan Eberle is going to be a fantastic hockey player, IMO
team50 20 Report post Posted January 6, 2010 Hell of a game. Jack Campbell hugely outplayed Jake Allen, despite both giving up 5.I think Campbell only gave up the last two goals, and Lee gave up the first three goals before being pulled.

The US controlled both of the games, having 2 goal leads in both until there was less than 10 minutes to play in the third. Each game they decided to fall back into a trap and it bit them twice. If they were to play 10 times, by the 3rd game Blais would have them winning by 3 or 4. On a side note consensus #1 overall draft pick Taylor Hall did not look good at all in either game against the US.
Eternal 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2010 I am wondering if anyone can clear this up. My room mates and I started to discuss the what the tournament would have been like if all of the Under-20 NHL players had been included for every team, but we could not figure out who the US would be missing? Not trying to take away from the US victory just trying to end a debate in my house.
camhockey16 5 Report post Posted January 6, 2010 i just enjoyed it because it was so wide open - almost every shot had a legitimate chance of going in. compare it to the nj devils who play relatively boring hockey but are winning and i would choose the olympic juniors everytime. lee92 2 Report post Posted January 6, 2010 For the most part, Canada didn't deserve to be in the game. Their turnovers were terrible, and the Americans speed was ridiculous. I was surprised at a lot of the no-calls that went missing, especially a lot of hits from behind from both teams. Shitty Canada's streak is over, but I can't get over that no-looker, bottom short-side by Carlson. Shitty to be from Canada at the moment, but awesome to be a Caps fan.
