Most worn out piece of equipment you can't do without

Recommended Posts

Jofa shin pads, can't remember the model number as it's worn off, but the liner is a purpleish blue an the outside, black on the inside, 15". Had these since 1997.

I subscribe more to the newer is better theory. A guy on my team, however, has a pair of shoulder pads that looked like something I had when I was younger. I'd pin them at 25 years old at least. Looked like they were going to fall apart just touching them.

Old Jofa elbow pads i had for about 15 years, and bought them used and battered. Just needed a set when i was on the road because i forgot mine at home but stuck with them til this year when i went with the RBK 8k pros.

shin pads: they're in horrible condition, but i don't like breaking new ones in, so i keep them. cracked, pieces of plastic missing, etc. everything else is pretty decent.

My one R2XN10 that I've used, it's beat to hell. That's right, I have a few backups but I've only used ONE in-game/pickups because it is still solid and still kicks well. It barely has graphics left but it's still holding up strong.

Also my pants, I'm sure it may surprise many of you when it comes to my gear whoredom but my pants are beat to shit.

My pants are kind of beat up and too small but I always wear a shell so they look new ahah, other than that, age is starting to take its toll on my fourth pair of backup gloves.

Sherwood Shins and my bauer 5000 helmet which are about 10 years old, thinking about buying a new 4500 for safetys sake especially since every one is freaking out about the whole concussion thing but will never buy new shins I love them to much

Until they were lost in a fire, my shin pads. had them since I was probably 13 or 14. Old Koho's my parents got me for christmas that were tanks. I like my current Shins, but I don't have that sentimental connection lol.

Yeah they don't have straps so I bought velcro straps for them, but still have to tape them every time. Its gets costly with clear tape when I play 3-4 days a week. Fire? what happened? thats pretty heavy... did you lose all your gear?

Car arson in front of my parents house a few years ago. Lost everything and was off the ice for 3 months while I waited for the insurance check. Rattled me pretty good for a while.

I have a pair of Tackla 2440 pants I'll probably never give up. They have the perfect amount of protection/weight and came in tall!

It isn't yet, but I'm pretty sure it will be. Pair of Rbk Pro 4-Roll's(Pro Tacks) from the SJ Sharks. I've honestly never had a glove that I liked this much before. I have no complaints about them, only changes I'm gonna do is put in some mustang and mesh gusset's this summer. And maybe try to get my name and number stitched on.

we think it was the same guy who hit a used car lot in a similar fashion a few months later, but nothing ever confirmed. there wasn't much to go on unfortunately. And for me, since I don't play league games too often, there really is no offseason, or maybe a year round off season, I don't know.

got a pair over the summer off of ebay for 60 bucks and I love 'em. I'm a tall skinny guy, (6'4 195) and the fact that this guy just happened to be selling a slightly used pair of 52 talls was unreal haha.

Jock. As weird as it sounds I don't find the new style (banana?) comfortable. I like the old mesh shorts that I got from canadian tire ages ago

Up until recently it was my ancient, battered, but so well broken in Bauer Supreme 2000 skates, absolute tanks that are still in basically flawless shape despite being damn old. Replaced them with some new Vapour X40s though, and I must say it's feeling like a pretty huge upgrade so far. The only other really old piece of gear I have are my shoulder pads (strangely enough also Bauer Supreme 2000s), have never seen the need to upgrade as they're light, comfortable, and provide enough protection for the beer league hockey I now play. They're also in basically flawless shape. Not really sure how old either the skates or shoulders are, but if I had to guess I'd say at least 8 years old for both.
