you guys say that the new bauer OPS is no stealth... but im sure that it will break just like the stealth. the lighter you make a stick, chances are the easier it will break. and the chances that 35 grams or whatever the weight differential is, will actually make a difference in play is slim and none.

with regards to the gloves... nylon vs. leather is strickly preference. neither is better. get what you feel more comfortable with.

on the skates... don't expect them to be much better than the xx's. they probably won't last a season for most guys either. the problem is that these molded material skates don't flex. you need some give in a skate, otherwise the skate will break down just like the xx's. i bet most people would do fine in a $300 usd skate.

that isnt really true.... my stealth has taken blows i know my synergy or response + couldnt have taken... i went into the boards with it and instead of snapping like a normal stick it just flexed and i came out with it in perfect condition...

but besides my personal expericance if you check the easton website it gives strength comparisons of a lot of sticks and the stealth is right on with most of the compared sticks

as for the weight not making a big difference.... it made my stick handling a lot smoother...

sorry to be devil's advocate

77 Flex Senior! Thank God someone realizes that more flex is better!

All right, glad to see we have a spokesperson for those who use noodles on board.

Are you saying the lighter stick improved your stickhandling a bit?

whats wrong with noodles? i'm fairly short, roughly 5'9" so after i take out the extension and cut about 2 inchs off, it makes quite a difference in the flex of my stick. also, i'm not the strongest person, and have been know to be lazy on occasion, and i find a whippier stick gives me better shots with less effort. i have to buy something along the lines of an intermediate flex stick so i can get the flex that some of you taller players get with an 85 or 100. its not my fault i'm as short as i am

Other than the blow to the ego, what's wrong with using an int stick? One of my friends is similar in stature and he just started using int tri-cores and has had great success.

i've got nothing against them. although i tend to just go with a whippy shaft since some of the int one pieces don't come in the patterns i like.

Its all preference and strength. I am 5'6" ... well 5'8" with my Docs on :)... and do best with a 100 to 110 flex. I dont lose speed with those flexes and my shots are more accurate.

Go with what works best for you and dont worry about anyone else.

yea ponty, you sound like a buddy of mine who was on my team last yr. he was about 5'6 as well, and could only use 100-110 flex sticks...really stiff sticks, and he wasn't strong at all by no means, but still had a good shot with them

Nothing wrong with int. flex, except some people prefer the standard grip size of senior shafts as well.

No one's saying anything about people preferring whippy flexes, but don't try and say any one flex is better. Hell, find a retail OPS that actually feels stiffer than an Easton 110. At least there are flexes closer to being whippy for those that prefer them.

I would think that the decreased thickness of an int. stick would have a negative effect on the durability as well.

There is a kid who is about 8 inches shorter then me, but he uses a stick bigger than mine. My stick is about junior height. I could use a junior stick if I wanted to, but there just a little too flexy even though I like flex, plus the shaft is way to thin, same with intermediate, it just feels weird.
