puckhoggy 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2010 I bought some gloves from the States and it has almost been two weeks. There is no tracking number BTW. With those who bought gear from USA or else even Canada that have to go thru customs, what has been the longest wait for you?I'm here staring out my window and don;t know when to expect the "knock" lol
Hradsky 1 Report post Posted May 4, 2010 6-10 business days is the usual time for me from the US to Canada.I wouldn't freak out until about 15 business days though...
Chadd 916 Report post Posted May 4, 2010 I shipped something to BC that sat in customs for 10 days on top of the actual shipping time.
surefire 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2010 Actually you can get a tracking number from a US based transaction (assuming the person used USPS). All parcels going out of the US have to fill a form out declaring whats inside and value etc. On the form (which is green), there is a series of numbers coinciding with the bar code - that is your tracking number. All parcels going out of the US have to fill a form out declaring whats inside and value etc. On the form (which is green), there is a series of numbers coinciding with the bar code - that is your tracking number. From what I read from the sender's receipt, there was tracking number, but when entered on the USPS website, it just says something like, Item accepted at 'so and so location' and date & time. From there on there is no further tracking. So I called the post office from where it was sent and the Customer Rep. told me there can be no more tracking if it was shipped to Canada without the sender buying paying for the customs tracking (something like that). And at the Canada Post, they say all packages coming from US to Canada that goes thru customs automatically have tracking..soo :(
bostonjuniorblackhawks 1 Report post Posted May 4, 2010 I've had to wait a month for a stick from canada before. Canada post was slow to get it too the border, and then the stick sat in customs for a while. Most stuff I order from canada gets here in no time

nickerjones 8 Report post Posted May 6, 2010 I ship stuff to my mother in law in calgary from Oklahoma and vice versa quite often.. I find that coming from Canada takes a hell of a lot longer than going there. Also note once the package with tracking leaves the country of origin , it is pretty much useless. I have had numbers saying delivered and not got the package for 2 weeks later. I have also had accepted and got the package 2 days later... Its all a crap shoot when shipping between our two countries. PuckHoggy , I hope you get your stuff soon. Thanks again for that fx50 connection piece. Now if i could just find a backup cause I am afraid i am gonna break this one and render is useless HAHA!

tonyd04 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2010 Generally it taked 6-10 but I've seen stick take as long as 25-30 days. I ship almost everything USPS Priority Mail which comes with tracking but it will sit in US or Canadian customs for up to 7-10 days before it will show more movement. cmdrkean 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2010 I do a lot of eBay selling and find the US to Canada shipping time is about 2-3 times as long as the same item would take within Canada.

I find that cheating the custom's sheet speeds things up a bit
shotty 7 Report post Posted May 9, 2010 if you're receiving a package from a US seller who is shipping USPS, the tracking number will only work on the USPS website until it hits the border, then you have to use the canada post web site.
samson35 0 Report post Posted May 10, 2010 The USPS number is kind of funny. I guess it doesn't really track where it as as opposed to whether or not its crossed countries. I guess it works none the less. I shipping goalie gear from Boston to Montreal and it took 6 days. Paid about 40$ for shipping due to the size of the box. I don't think its that bad of a deal? I have to ship some pads to Vancouver in a couple days, and Im hoping it isn't going to run me too much.
puckhoggy 0 Report post Posted May 10, 2010 The USPS tracking number for my item i bought still reads, it is accepted at the shipping office of origin (with no further updates) even though I received the item this morning. Just goes to show you everything isn't updates on the system when shipping international. took it basically 2 business weeks (excluding wkends) to arrive, but everything is intact :)

theelite 1 Report post Posted May 11, 2010 Had this problem too... but I called up USPS and asked why the status isn't updated... it's because shipping to Canada via USPS is considered international, the only status update they are able to track is the fact that they accepted the package. number18 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2010 how does the duties work? i just ordered from hockeymonkey and i paid around $45 total. will i have to pay a duty tax when it gets here?
theelite 1 Report post Posted May 11, 2010 depends which method of shipping.. usually with USPS there isn't any duty... if you shipped with UPS or Fedex, they will charge you handling fees for getting you your package. Fedex/UPS will ask for money at your door.
puckhoggy 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2010 An item that is being sent to me from the U.S. has been tracked to the Cdn. customs now (sent with USPS). It was updated a couple hours ago on its arrival. Does anyone know what the hours of operation are for customs? I really would like it to arrive tmrw morning, just wanted to see if i should hold my breath or not.
