Power Balance Bracelet

Recommended Posts

I bought one recently and just received it in the mail. I will let everyone know about the results on my next skate and how it affects my workouts as well.

So my father knows the president of the JREF and the president says this bracelet is perfect for the million dollar challenge. Jason and the rep. in that video should go get themselves a million dollars!

When I spoke with the Don last week, he said the manufacturer has been very tightlipped in releasing information about the holograms. You could look at that from different perspectives. Either he knows it's a hoax and doesn't want people to stumble upon that fact, or he's concerned it could be easily (or similarly) replicated and he doesn't want a better funded company stealing his market share.

However, I'd be willing to do the million dollar challenge in a hot second. I know what I experienced and I know I wasn't biased by preconceived opinions. If anything, my prejudices would have bordered on skeptical if I had an idea what was going to happen.

Why doesn't he patent it then?

There are already a few similar products, that ship has already sailed.

don't consider a Pro wearing anything a direct endorsement of the product. Pros are handed alot of things in hopes that they will be seen wearing it. All it takes is one picture or sighting with them having the product on and there you have it...free advertising with people assuming it works because so and so wore it. They pass out those copper bracelets (an other things) all the time to the PGA players just for that reason.

I thinking about trying those titanium necklaces they sell at hockeymonkey, I know a lot of baseball players wear them. I mean I know it's probably BS but it seems like the mental edge you can get from it would be worth it.

Jason - do they ever do the test where the hologram gets stuck in the pocket first, then it gets removed for the second test ?

I don't know. I only know how Don tested me and a couple of other people that day. It seems it would be better to test without the the hologram first, because that establishes there are certain movements during which we have no balance/strength. And it also removes the element of preconceived notions, because the tester gives the subject the business card, then quickly asks him to repeat the movement.

...or two titan ones on your ankle and two power balance ones on both your hands.....?

Ok i'm not trying to be funny here, but if they really work what are the chances of you turning into superman if you were to wear, say like, 10 of them?

It may have been noted elsewhere but for the first test without the business card, the person does not really know what to expect in the first place. Sure he/she is told what the test will be and to put his/her arms up front or whatever but still, you can never really be a 100% prepared for the test. Then you put the card in the pocket without telling the person that it has super powers so as to be as neutral as possible and then you ask the person to do the test again. Now the person knows exactly what to expect and is better prepared and should in theory fare much better the second time around, balance bracelet or not.

To an extent, you're right. Even without anything added, most people would probably do slightly better the second time around just by shifting their weight slightly to be better prepared to fight the tester's pushing. But the difference in ability to fight against his pushing is so great, it's instantly apparent that whatever he put into your shirt pocket had an amazing effect.

This happened six months ago, so I'm going off my memory, but it seemed like it would be the equivalent of being able to bench press three times what you could before. So instead of 100 pounds, you could now do 300. If you went from 100 to 120, you could say you were better prepared, maybe put the arms wider, maybe arched your back more. But if you went from 100 to 300, you're looking for guide wires.

I do believe I see one on Paul Pierce tonight.

Edit: If my eyes don't deceive me, he has 3 of them on. 2 on his left hand, 1 on his right.

So I got to hit the ice today with the bracelet on. I didn't notice much of a difference in my balance. I did feel a bit stronger on my skates but that might also have been from me upping the intensity on my core workouts lately. Overall I would say the jury's still out there for the bracelet. I'll probably have a better idea after a couple more skates.

The guy at my LHS said that Teemu Selanne wears one on each wrist, one on each ankle and even one in his helmet. Not sure how the hell he knows that but for what it's worth. Teemu did snag a bronze medal at the Olympics. Does the IOC test for these??

I got mine, and..... looks like a fake for me. I tried skating, no effect. My buddy who was uninformed about effect of this bracelet has been tested by me(first with bracelet on), no effect too.
