Hockey Movie

Recommended Posts

not just a hockey movie, hockey MUSICAL.

with cameos by: Walter Gretzky, George Stromboblablahala and everyones favorite: Theo Fleury.

looks horrible. Canadian moves almost always disappoint and I wish they'd just stay away from hockey.

*sigh...

The thing is Theo Fleury could probably have a really good, really deep drama movie made about his career like his book and have it sell. Especially in Canada.

I guess someone is trying (way) too hard to capitalize on the popularity of "Glee".

Maybe Mike Myers can feel safe that "Love Guru" WON'T be the worse movie ever made about hockey.

Now, "MVP (Most Valuable Primate)" is still nominated

Easy now, that's my 2 year old's favorite movie at the moment. It combines two of his favorite things- monkeys and ice hockey. AFter the 8th or 9th viewing it kind of grows on you.

This can't be real... is it at least just a tv movie, not something that is going to be in theatres?

Haha nope in the video description it says coming to select Canadian theatres this October.

Oh, it's worse than that. This monstrosity is opening the Toronto International Film Festival.

Absolutely classic example of what's wrong with the arts in Canada -- this coming from a guy whose whole life is bound up in them. Run down the checklist: some kind of obvious national iconography (check), head-crampingly simplistic plot, characters, and diction (check), token ethnicity (check), even more token involvement of public figures (check). Congratulations, you just got yourself a Canada Council grant and free promotion from every news agency, film festival, TV and radio program, and half-witted, half-hearted pseudo-patriot in the country. You may earn the censure of anyone with taste, sensibility, or the ability to think consecutively for eight seconds without falling to the ground, and your work may be condemned by even half a decade of critical judgment to total and permanent ignominy, but hey, you can still shovel shit and peddle schmaltz while the sun shines.

Directed by the guy who did "One Week" starring Joshua Jackson (Fringe, Dawsonn's Creek). By all accounts I've heard - that was fantastic...I have not seen it. This is his next project. Wow!

Nice name, Vincent Goggles, and this movie is gonna blow. Luckily it will never hit the states and demean hockey anymore than it already is here

The sad thing is that the leads in this flick will likely make more dough for it than many of us do in a year. A lot of our popular culture isn't about quality-it is serving the lowest common denominator. Look at some of the movies and tv shows that are hugely successful. Artistically, they are shite. However, there is a huge demand for shite or else Access Hollywood shows wouldn't be all over the TV. Supply and demand. The good news is that if you hate this, you aren't the lowest common denominator when it comes to movies about hockey. The bad news is you will be disappointed frequently. To quote JS Mill: "It is better to be a human being dissatisfied than a pig satisfied"
