Socks

Hey guys !

That may be a bit stupid but I was just wondering ...

What kind of socks do you wear in your skates ? Yeah the socks you put your feet in ... Hockey specific socks ? Short or Long ? Special material ?

I've always played in standard cotton socks and i'm thinking about buying specific socks, I just wanted to know if it's a waste of money or if it's worth it.

Another vote for the Bauer Vapor skate sock. I've had a pair for well over 6 months and no blisters since wearing these, haven't looked back since.

I wear two pairs of socks. My foot isn't very wide and helps take up some of the extra volume in my skate to keep it snug, especially around the ankle. I wasn't so skate savvy when I bought the pair that I use. Even now i don't know what brand is good for thinner feet. I wear the easton skate sock which is awesome, then I put on an old pair of long socks that cover most of my calf.

Use to wear the Easton Synergy socks but past year have worn the CCM Oxysox and like them better. Wish they wear a bit thicker in the forefoot/toe area(got skinny foot).

I have HUGE calves so to help slim my legs down, I wear a pair of Under Armor heat guard socks that are as long as soccer socks. It's thin and breathable, but not as thin as my pair of Easton synergy socks that I also recommend.

I prefer the UA socks cause it works like a compression shorts/shirts and puts less strain on my lower leg muscles.

Liner socks. Super thin and moisture wicking. Almost like not wearing socks at all. Although the negative aspect is having to hang them to dry after each session since drying them in a machine would damage them.

I absolutely hated the UA socks - bulky, thick, and inelastic.

My preferred sock these days is a Wigwam liner sock for skiing and snowboarding: comes up over the calf, has a high PU/spandex content and gives good compression throughout. Not quite as perfect as the CCM Oxysox, but about 1/3 the price for 90% of the feel, and I can keep a couple of spare pairs around for days when not thinking clearly.

+1 for the UA armour socks. Its a thick sock for me, but i really have no choice. Having type 1 diabetes you need to make sure you take good care of your feet. These do the job perfectly.

i dont think we're talking about the same under armour socks. the one's i use are pretty thin. not as thin as the thinees i used to wear, but then again probably just a tad thicker than what most of you guys are used to. my coolees are a whack thicker though.

Fairly long Adidas soccer socks or fairly light weight ski/snowboard socks. Our rink can be about as cold as playing outside. They help when it's -20 F out!

CCM Oxysox. I bought a bunch off eBay that had cosmetic flaws and I've been using them for several years now. I like the tight fit, thin material and the fact that they never bunch up.
