what kind of stick does everyone use?

Recommended Posts

just curious as to what everyone's favorite stick is. also, do you guys think there's a big difference stickwise when it comes to using it on ice or inline?

i'm currently using a warrior dolomite dd spyne 100 flex kovalchuk curve, and i love it. i've had warriors now for quite a few seasons, from a mac daddy, kronik, and dolomite's. i'm gonna get a miken mv-3 just to see how those are.

also, who here likes to use the grip???? i personally can't stand a grip stick...

I use an intermediate 67 flex Bauer Supreme One95 shaft with a Crosby 2k blade...it's light weight, well balanced, and pretty sturdy considering the hackfest my beginner league is.

I play outdoors so I have to use an ABS blade, but that's the only difference I can think of between using a stick for inline or ice.

I have an inno 1100 shaft in 440 with a warrior spyne. my ice stick is a one piece dolo and is a little stiffer. Though I'm trying to find a replacement for the the spyne, the inline pucks seems to bounce off my blade and I don't exactly want to use lots of tape as the surface I play on is quite abrasive.

Personally think my inno is a little too bendy for ice, almost feels like a rubber band. The inno is like 6 years older so that may be a factor. I find the release is a little quicker on the dolo on ice and they're about the same on inline.

As for grip, I don't mind having grip or clear but nothing will ever touch the polarfiber on the inno. Wish warrior would make that an option for us mortals.

TPS r6 ptc, whip flex with the stoll curve (Lindstrom/Getzlaf clone) is my favorite right now.

Backup is an older RBK 6k pro feel, mid flex with a sher-wod 950 tapered blade, coffey curve. Both are cut to 54" and feel like the flex is in the low-mid 80's.

I'd love to try an x60 in intermediate flex or a stealth s19 in 75 flex, but that's just out of my price range. I'm tempted to buy up all of the TPS sticks that are leftover after they got bought by sher-wood.

Currently am using a '11 Warrior Dolo DD in a Gionta Curve and 110-flex.

Previous sticks (past few months) are:

-Warrior '10 Dolo DD 100-flex Vanek (used mainly for pick-up only)

-Easton S19 110-flex Sakic

-Easton ST 115-flex Sakic

-Bauer One85 112-flex P92

-TPS R10 Regular-Flex Bergeron

I usually play on a waxed wood surface. When I play on Sport/Ice court I use the same stick but tape it differently. Normally I don't put any tape on the bottom of the blade when playing on the wood surface. That surface has enough "grip" as it is. When playing on Sport/Ice court I always tape the bottom edge.

*Icecourt*

My main stick is a Nokelainen Dolomite DD pro stock. I think it's around 95 flex. I'm on my 4th one now.

My backup right now is a Bieksa ONE95 95 flex. Don't really use it very much at all.

My other regular backup is Eberle ONE90 95 flex.

I'm not a fan of grippy sticks. The less grip, the better!

4 Main Sticks I use:

Montreal NItro Whip Shaft + Easton Sakic blade turned into a Kovalchuk curve

Easton ST 50 flex Iginla turned Kovalchuk

Mission Ion 65 Flex Hossa turned into Ovechkinish Curve

RBK 7k Sickick 50 Flex Modano turned into a Giontaish Curve

Oh don't forget about the Easton woody ABS with the Z-burg curve and 100+ flex after the cut. I use that for outdoor green biscuit training and street hockey. It's got a Bladeshark sandpaper grip pad on it because I'm not going to tape a stick that is gonna get ground down 1/4" a month.

I know it's a little off topic, but I don't suppose anyone knows if you can curve an ABS blade the same way as a wooden blade? Over the oven and bend it? Just curious.

I curved two ABS blades yesterday. I messed up the first one (delaminated). On the second one I use a double layer of hockey tape for better protection while using a blow torch.

I've personally loved Easton twigs for a long time. I've flip-flopped between SE16's and S17's for the past year and a half. For roller, I've stuck with a 70 flex S17 and a 65 flex SE16. Honestly, I would never use the flex I currently have in my lineup of sticks for ice, I'd jump up to an 85 for sure. That's just my preference though.

Easton Stealth S11, Synergy SE16, & Synergy SE6

All one-piece, grip, 100 Flex, Zetterberg curve.

When I bust blades on any of them they get replaced with SE16 Wood tapered blades (Zetterberg). I used to use the SE16 composite blades, but since I can get 3 woodies for the same price as 1 comp blade, I've gone that route.

I play inline only, on an old epoxy-covered wood floor.
