raganblink 82 Report post Posted January 16, 2011 Sorry but please use commas and periods. And all the sticks will feel different for different people so what works for me won't work for you. Sounds like a flex issue note than anything
A2rhino 77 Report post Posted January 16, 2011 S19 has an excellent release for snappers and wristers.Oh Yes it does! Although I am curious to try the Widow.
Top Cheese 0 Report post Posted January 16, 2011 Dolomites are pretty quick because they're tapered. The Widow is supposed to have a crazy "pop" as well. My TPS R8 Lite was also great for quick shots.

Maybe check out a U+ cl or 11k

My TPS R8 Lite was also great for quick shots.+1 on the TPS R8 lite. ive used x60's, one95's, dolomites, synergy elites, se16's, ak27's and a few others recently. The TPS R8 lite feels to noticably have the quickest release. I love those sticks. plus, 95 flex if PERFECT for me, just hard to find. Thanks TPS for making a 95 flex
Chadd 916 Report post Posted January 16, 2011 There's a major difference in a stick having a good kick (or pop) and having a quick release. For most people, they are complete opposites. The sticks that most people regard as having a hard kick, tend to load more than those that are touted as having a low kick point. Most of the people I see here and at the rink that talk about wanting a low kickpoint, really seem to want a stick that doesn't flex. The "lag" that people complain about is the stick loading before it kicks. The only way to avoid that lag is to prevent the stick from loading (aka: flexing), by stiffening the lower portion of the stick to the point where the same amount of load on the stick results in significantly less flex.Long story short, find a stick you like and stick with it for as long as they make it. By using the same model, you will learn to feel the stick as it loads and releases and your shots will improve. The constant switching of brands/models/kickpoints actually prevents you from getting the most out of your stick. If you have issues or problems, by all means, change to something that works better. But if you find that stick that works for you, stop changing and hang with it.

NextBobbyOrr 0 Report post Posted January 16, 2011 I'd listen to what Chadd says. He said something similar, during a time where I switched sticks pretty often to the "newest" thing. Now I've stopped buying whatever new October release and began to buy more of the sticks that I've liked/grown acustomed too. Definitely seeing improvements. adalbort 1 Report post Posted January 16, 2011 I dont know how easy would they be to find in North America, but the Salming M11 KZN is IMO the quickest release OPS Ive ever seen.

dayroc 0 Report post Posted January 16, 2011 what chadd said. Awesome advice.Or go to the rink and shoot 500 pucks to learn your current stick.
sharks25 9 Report post Posted January 16, 2011 If your wanting the lowest kick possible: 11k. Something you can do is just get a stiffer x60. It wont load as much, but the release will be faster because of the reduced loading. I live my s19 for wristers and other quick shots, and I thought the x60 released nicely. Don't expect to have the kick of your current stick if you go stiffer or with a lower kick point.
fiimb 1 Report post Posted January 16, 2011 sounds like you can automatically rule mid kicks out(s19, t.o , etc). i find this point ironic because Easton advertises their s19s as having a "lightning quick release" to use their jargon.I think we can rule out whippy s19's. I remember people commenting on how the s19's feel stiffer than rated, this might contribute to the quick release. (im not a big easton guy so i can't comment personally). sharks25 9 Report post Posted January 16, 2011 +1 on s19s playing to flex rating. Whippier sticks will have a slower release because of the loading
fiimb 1 Report post Posted January 17, 2011 Whippier sticks will have a slower release because of the loadingi don't think this is necessarily true. skip to 0:
Jarick 5 Report post Posted January 17, 2011 They might have a quicker release but could have less velocity depending on the flex/user.I also wonder about high vs low kickpoints and the true flex rating of a stick. Personally, I like whippy low kick sticks. I bought a 67 flex One95, a stick notorious for having extra flex, and it didn't work for me because it felt like all the flex was in my top hand, while a 67 flex Vapor XXV worked better. But I'd be curious to know the true flex of these sticks on a machine.Anyways, the quickest release I've found is on 100% graphite/carbon sticks with no fiberglass. They seem to want to snap back to shape as quick as possible.
