Best Skates for $300-$400

Recommended Posts

Hey all, Question today is what are the best skates for $300 to $400? I am currently using Buaer One60's. Would like to upgrade to maybe the One70 or One80. Also how about Easton S17 or S12 Skates? Do they hold up well or break down fast? Never tried any Grafs. So open for suggestions for some new skates. Thank ya

I think the s12s are the best value on the market. Unless you're a really big guy S12s should be plenty stiff for you. They are pretty similar to the S17s. According to totalhockey s17s only weigh .02 lbs less than the s12s. So I'd go with those. They're holding up fine after 3 months

I am 6'2" and 212 lbs. The Bauer One60's fit fine no discomfort at all but the toe box could be a lillte narrower. I have D or regular width at the moment. Did not know if the Easton are narrower? No local shop near me, have to drive 5 hours one way. Is ther much of a difference between the One 70 vs the One 80's to justify the price?

Id agree w chadd...I recently got new skates my self....I tried on everthing in my price range...twice!!...lol....at first i was leaning towards bauer, because they seem to be the most popular....I ended up going with easton s12s....they fit great right off the shelf....best heel fit of any skate by far...exremely light too...i paid 250 for them...by far the best 250 skate on the market....check em out

I did a road trip with a buddy of mine so he could try on as many skates as possible. I think it was about three hours each way, so we just made a day out of it. Getting the right fit is important, no matter how much you spend on skates.

not to mention, with pro skates it's not easy to find the correct size............

But they're better because they're pro stock, sizing isn't that important.

So with pro sticks, flex is irreverent because it's pro stock, right?

Might wanna check your sarcasm detector.

Anyways, +10000000000000000 to "whatever fits your foot best." For me this is the Bauer Vapour X40, love these skates, but for you they might not fit well.

I was going with his post being sarcasm too, maybe my detector is shot.

I'm in total agreement with Chadd as well. The skate that fits you the best should be you're choice. Both skates your considering will serve you well if the fit is good.
