Easton Stealth RS Stick

Recommended Posts

Does the RS play whippier than the s19 or about the same?

Even from just flexing it in the store and handling a friend's the other day on the rink, I'd definitely say whippier. Easton felt the S17s were too whippy (first time stick design and it didn't quite have the flex characteristics correct), so they upgraded to their pro stock flex profile on the S19s, which definitely felt stiffer. In my opinion, a bit too stiff for their actual ratings. The RS sticks are definitely more flexible than the S19s for the given ratings.

Went to a shop with a buddy of mine today and checked out an RS to see if they were different than the one I used at Summer Jam and the flex was completely different. The RS in the shop felt like one of the first batch S17s, in terms of flex.

Easton felt the S17s were too whippy (first time stick design and it didn't quite have the flex characteristics correct)...

The testing I saw showed the S17 to be 10-15 points softer than marked. Very consistent, though.

Got the chance to try a buddy's RS on the ice tonight. Definitely a well-balanced stick and fires off INSANE wristers, but I definitely had lag playing with the 85 flex. Granted, I'm used to cut-down 100s, but I think I'd still need move up to a 110-flex RS if the opportunity to pick one up came along. Having played with an S17 a while back, I agree with the last few posts that say the RS feels whippier than rated.

On the other hand, I'm partial to mid-kick sticks and also having a chance to play with an Ai9 tonight, between Reebok's new offering and the RS, my money's on the Ai9. Unreal stick.

Sounds about right. I always told people that they played one flex rating down (ex. 100 felt like 85, 85 felt like 70ish, etc).

Little under thirty days with mine and my blade is going soft. Skating two/three times a week. Getting abused at center/defenseman. It's no Dolomite in terms of durability, but the performance is great.

I'll most likely buy another one.

I decided to go with the RS, I was lucky enough to grab the only 85 flex LH Parise they had, and I used it for the first time in my game last night.

First shot I EVER take with it goes right at the goalie's head, he ducks, it hits the crossbar and rolls right into the back of the net. I love this thing. I know it is cliche, but it was like night and day going from my old 2007 or 2008 Dolomite to this stick. Absolutely incredible.

Nice! I use the same exact one in a righty. I think I'm picking up a stiffer flex tonight. Love it!

That's exactly how I would've described it. I think the lightness of the stick is also a (positively) contributing factor. In a game last night, there were a few times that I fumbled a pass (as expected because I'm not the greatest player) but I was able to recover almost instantly and regain control of the puck. If I had been using one of my old sticks, I know that wouldn't have happened.

I found the same thing when using the RS with the blade seeming pingy. I've been using it for almost a month now and I've gotten used to the feel. I used my S19, to see how it felt in comparison to the RS. The RS definitely shoots harder for wrist shots and the lightness is nice. My only thing is I still need to get more used to the RS with my slap shots. When I did nail them, the puck seemed to stay lower to the ice as the blade seemed to stay more closed.

Comparing the RS to the APX, I found it to be noticeably blade heavy. It also seemed more blade heavy than my S19. Anyone else notice that?

Has there been any issues with durability as I have seen 4 RS sticks break during my son’s practices and games. Two where senior and two where intermediate and all broke in the blade.

Just an observation and curious if this is just a statistical anomaly.

Haven't noticed that the RS was blade heavy (good considering how light it is). I can only compare against the Total one though.

Loved the S19 and this is a huge improvement.

Was using a Total one until I got my hands on the RS. TO weighs in slightly less (by approx 10 grams), however feels notably heavier in the hands as the RS has much better balance.

After picking up an APX, I would find it easy to believe anything will feel blade heavy compared to the APX. Amazing balance for how light the stick is!

Didn't need to hear that about the APX! Only if they offered the 112-flex with a P08 curve for retail... ugggh.

Anyone know if the RS will be released with 110-flex and/or the "limited" patterns like the Roy, Shannahan, etc.... They did it about 6 mo's after the release of the S19 so wasn't sure if the same would happen with the RS......

Just pull the trigger and order an APX 112 flex p08!

Those patterns are on the Mexican-made sticks...which is why you only saw them on ST, SE16 and EQ50.

Hmm, Total Hockey, Hockey Giant and IW all have several Roy and "old Cammaleri" at their stores or online inventory in S19. I've never seen them in EQ50's though..just S19 and ST.

Yep, that was the first place I saw the "Cammalleri" (old Shanahan) curve come back was at a Total Hockey store. I believe they still have some of them left in the S19s and some of the Roy ones left on the EQ50 and STs.

Must be SMUs; because those S19s have never been in the catalogue.

Roy was never a retail pattern.

I bought a Roy S19 from Hockey Giant for $170, love it. So no Gaborik/Roy/Chara curve for the RS?

Finally got to try out someones RS this morning and I can see why it is being so hyped up. Shaft had a ton of pop. I was very impressed coming from my EQ50 2-piece combo. Cannot wait to pick a couple up.

Picked one up on Friday --- love it. Best stick i've used. I've been a long Easton supporter but had barely tried any of the stealth lines before. A short stint with an S17... but mostly SE16 the last 2 years. Also used a TO for a few games and liked the feel of that too... but, for my style, the RS seems to be the perfect fit. Now, I just hope it lasts...
