He's been using it to build up his strength, as he said in his 1st game back...he was tired and is using this to build up his speed. Crazy to think how dedicated these guys are.

He had it on as far back as the Winter Classic last year. Noticed it in 24/7 the other night.

I can't remember the last time I saw a non-tufftek glove in the NHL.... at least it helps those hideous added pads blend in I guess.

Brad winchester also uses leather gloves.

Pretty sure Chara has always used a 2 piece setup, at least for his time in Boston: AK, S15, now this warrior setup

did a search and didnt find much other than this post and not sure if its mentioned

today during the leafs/bruins game, ray ferraro said that chara changed from easton to warrior because easton didnt have the pattern he wanted

But why would he just wear it on just one side of his body? If it’s a weight, than how much does it weigh? This would obviously create an imbalance to his movement. Or is this to strengthen his left side which wasn’t it the same left ankle that he had the high ankle sprain some years back? Or is still like some wish to say that it goes back to St. Mary?

Kris Letang and James Neal both use legit S19s

A few are using a ''true'' S19, but most of S19's are SE16's painted

Talking about S19's, I noticed PK Subban always changes his 11K for a S19 (SE16) when hes on the power play.

That's the point. He switches it up. There are days that he wears a full belt, other days that he wears just one half. The reason for this is to create a off balance feel, making him use body awareness, which strengthens not only the body, but the mind as well.

It does goes back to St.Mary's. I'll say it again. He had a strengthening coach that had him using on and off the ice. When he was home over the summer and started working out full time again, I saw him a few times at the Winter Games Centre and he was wearing during a few of drills that used a lot of body weight transfer and direction change.

Maybe it's just me, but does he seem to tuck his lower arm in more than the average shooter and or higher left hand? I know he has longer arms, but the stick is still relevant to his size. Just saying, it reminds me a lot of a golfers swing almost.

His motion is directed through the puck than you will see with most amateur players.

Wasn't talking amateurs though, I'm talking even in comparison to other pro pictures you see in the same motion. Almost as if he actually uses the torque that builds in his core by sliding that hand up a bit higher. Might just be me though.

My LHS had a few Chara Warrior shafts a few years back- it felt like rebar. I could do chin ups on one and not flex it.
