They dont look like there very good.

I second that. The 'Vector' on the cuff looks like the Sherwood Eclipse ones.

I don't get why people still speculate about the quality or performance based on looks...especially on this board where most people should know better by now.

Ugly things perform ugly.

Obviously logic has no place in this discussion. ;) Hey it has the NHL logo on it, so it has to be good right?

I hope you're being sarcastic here. If not, those guys in your avatar have done their jobs.

Whats wrong with having gear look shit hot as well as protect? I mean a glove is a glove no matter what brand. Everyone has their pref's for whatever reason. At the end of the day all gloves protect your hands right? So why not go for the equipment that looks good as well. I personally think they look like they should be sold at K mart under the "Street Hockey" isle!

They're just appeasing the demographic. In a couple of years the companies will be cranking out new stuff every year. "coming this December, the new Bauer MCXVIII". "The new Vector super ultra comp pro 9.9".

You've missed the whole point. He's saying that a piece of equipment will perform poorly because it doesn't look good. Nobody is debating the fact that the aesthetic appeal on well-performing piece of equipment isn't a plus.

The sarcasm alarm went off right there = P Some ugly things perform pretty well I admit. Well, I'm not gonna say things that look nice perform well. Look at the low-end Easton Shafts like the Octane or Carbon 9001. I admit those look alright but they perform like crap.

for retailers out there, it may seem like a good deal, but keep this in mind, you are loosing a glove sale for probably 2 years. As well i know the margins are not great on the sticks so in the end you as a retailer are being pooched. ll you have to do is the math... For the consumer it is a great deal but dealers if i were you i would not support it. But it also tells me that CCM is not selling sticks so they have to find some way to get rid of them!

Ref..the "Carbaloy" helmets.....the finished chipped off in several places on ours within a few weeks..not very tolerant surface for impact ...at least not cosmetically.

Wow... I guess we know where you stand with customer satisfaction ;)

Honestly what kind of crap is that? At the shop I work we would gladly give up one of the 5 million or so pairs of gloves we sell per day in order to ultimately have a satisfied customer. Satisfied customers = return to the store = more sales.

I originally read that the V130 wouldn't be out until Dec, but they must have had a fast production run. This press release came out Monday - looks like it came to market early (probably trying to get to stores for the Xmas rush):

2004-11-15 - THE SENSATION OF THE WORLD CUP OF HOCKEY NOW IN STORES

Free Pair of Limited Edition Vector Gloves with Purchase

Montreal, Quebec, November 15th 2004 – The CCM one-piece stick (OPS) that scored the game-winning goals for Team Canada in the semi-finals and finals of The 2004 World Cup of Hockey (WCH) has finally hit the street. CCM®’s new Vector 130 OPS, which WCH 2004 tourney MVP Vincent Lecavalier and finals game-winning goal scorer Shane Doan switched to with smashing results during the tournament, is now available at hockey shops and sporting goods stores across North America.

The Vector 130 re-defines the term ultra-lightweight, weighing in at 15% less than traditional OPS. CCM® built the CCM Vector™ 130 with a stiffer, straighter and thinner aerospace grade graphite to create a powerhouse OPS that is easy to maneuver. And by powerhouse, we mean best-in-class durability due to CCM®’s patented Impact Layer Technology™ in the shaft and new fiber-reinforced solid foam core blade.

OPS are ultimately judged on performance, and the CCM Vector 130 delivers. A longer 24†taper makes it easier for shooters to load and fire, and a stiffness optimized blade results in optimum velocity on shots. The CCM Vector 130 blade has also been created with an enlarged “sweetspotâ€, allowing for the performance of a composite blade without sacrificing the responsive feel that players need.

In celebration of the launch of the Vector 130 OPS, CCM is giving away a free pair of limited edition Vector hockey gloves to consumers with the purchase of a Vector 130, 120 or 110 stick from November 15th through December 31st. To participate, consumers who purchase a stick have to fill out the coupon available at participating retailers or at ccmsports.com and send it along with an original proof of purchase to CCM.

I got the free promo vector gloves today. While they look nice, they're quite small in the hand (very tight - feel like they're squeezing the sides of my hands). I wonder if they sent me a boys 14 instead of a mens (presuming there's a width difference)?

More companies are going for a slimmer fitting glove, even eagle who has been known for a while for having a loose fitting glove came out with a new slim fitting model.
