Franchise 'Beer League' Gloves?

Recommended Posts

Hey all, I picked up a set of these at Pro Hockey Life, ran a quick search here but didn't find anything on them. I'm wondering if they are different from the regular Franchise's at all? Description seems to be the exact same, unless I'm missing something. I think these were a special product for Pro Hockey Life only.

They are PHL SMUs, you are correct. I don't know about the exact differences, but after comparing the regular Franchises and these SMUs, it seemed to me that the Trilam foams in the SMUs were less dense than the regular.

Hmm, I tried them side by side and didn't notice a difference, but I have to admit I didn't think to check the foam specifically. At $150 though they are pretty attractive (for an admittedly expensive glove).

For $150, great pick up. Pro Hockey Life stated on their facebook page awhile back that they were the same, just smu to them colourways.

I like some of the colors, I like how it looks like the Canadian: Navy/White and Red ones it looks like the Warrior print on the cuff has like the Molson Canadian logo type color going on. If I didn't already have a pair of customs I'm waiting for I'd be interested in getting those.

It still blows me away that a $150 glove doesn't have plastic inserts.

As long as it's shiny, the rest doesn't really matter. Sounds like they figured it out.

Same. The $90 Pro Series has an embroidered logo and plastic inserts, but the $200 Franchise doesn't. The Pro Series is nearly the same cut/die/model/whatever you want to call it as the Franchise as well. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

aren't the Pro Series made overseas while the Franchises are made in Canada? that alone makes a HUGE difference in labor costs.
