Toe already chipped up....warranty?

Recommended Posts

hard to say based on the description you're giving.

If you think the wear is excessive for how much time youve had it, send it in. The worst that can happen is they just send it back.

Though keep in mind that Easton seems to have a terrible track record of sending you something totally different from what you sent in, so factor that into your decision.

you can try, but it will eat up your one time warranty replacement. NO stick company allows dealers to replace sticks, so it doesn't matter how much anyone has spent at any shop, just how the system is and has been for close to 10 years now

I guess u can't bring it to the shop u bought it? Even if you've spent a boatload of money there?

Correct, the shop is totally out of the warranty process, this is only something the company can do. Shops are kept out of the loop to prevent all the fraud that was happening before. This is exact reason sticks now have serial numbers. As for your stick, I don't think chipping on the toe is a defect. Those that drag their sticks along the dasher will have this happen more than those that don't. But you can always take a pic and send to them, they are a very good company from a warranty standpoint.

I can guarantee you that here in Canada (at least MTL) you bring your CCM and Warrior to the shop where you bought it and they exchange it on spot or order it for you. Not sure about other brands.

Here in Calgary the stores do the same. Bauer for my son.

That's very peculiar. We only do in store warranty exchanges for Warrior, Sherwood/TPS and Vic. Everyone else is through the manufacturer.

Try not to 'guarantee' anything that only applies to you or your city.

My LHS does returns on all stick companies... Bauer, Easton, Warrior, Reebok/CCM, Sherwood... Pretty much any stick they have they'll do for you. I've never had a problem dealing with it either (Sticks have always got replaced, no questions asked). Simply walk in with your broken out and walk out with a new one. Although the warranty stick must be under the same company and if you pick something cheaper you wont get any money refunded to you. You can however pick a more expensive stick and pay a little more if you wanted too

all the stores in my area will warranty on the spot except for bauer. so whats with all the variation?

im having the same issue with my 20k blade, after 2 weeks the toe is completely gone; probably missing half an inch now. ive used nothing but bauer and warrior blades before and have never had this problem. brought it into the shop and the guy said he'd warranty it.

Pretty sure you got my point. I said it like that because they are US and CA users on the board, and I was not sure about CCM.

And since you claim to work in a store you should know better that Warrior's in store exchange policy applies throughout Canada  .

We do 30-day 1-time replacement on the spot for any composite stick, any brand. Any subsequent replacements need to go through the manufacturer.

I think "most" in Calgary do that. But I have no idea what the rest of the world does.

HOW TO RETURN A DEFECTIVE STICK WITHIN THE USA: (INCLUDING HAWAII & ALASKA)

1. Do not return the stick to your hockey/sporting goods dealer.Â

2. Call the Easton Sports Warranty Department at 888-259-1297 to obtain a return authorization number and return address

All of my Eastons have always chipped so easily

+1

When my ST broke I emailed easton warranty service and they gave me a number to call for hockey sticks. (dont remember that number now though). When I talled to the serivce rep they didnt say anything about sending in the broken one. Just tell the the blade is chipped enough you cant use it and they should repleace it. If not most stores(in the states) have at least a 30 day return policy.

It's a mako 2. Would a pic help?

Yeah, a pic of the damage would be nice. If it's just tiny little chips/scratches, I wouldn't be worried, but it's hard to say without seeing a pic.

I don't know if this is a general Rbk problem, but it's something I've seen with a few Rbk sticks owned by teammates over the last 3ish years. The toes completely degrade to the point where they're all splintered with the foam showing. I've really only seen this with Rbk sticks, although the Rbk sticks that I've owned personally have never had this problem, only some teammates sticks.
