Other Curves Close to a Getzlaf curve

Recommended Posts

I just got a Easton EQ30 with a Getzlaf curve last night and went to my practice. I Love this Curve, 2 goals in a scrimmage and my wrist shots are rockets. I was wonder if any of the other stick manufactures make a similar curve to the Getzlaf, in ether retail or pro stock? I find Easton sticks to be blade heavier that other sticks.

Anyone know of a Getzlaf clone with a rounded toe?

I bought a Mako on closeout and ended up taking it to the sanding wheel to round out the toe. I am starting to prefer the pattern to what I was using previously and may grab another, I'd prefer not to have to modify it. Easton specs the Parise as identical to the Getzlaf but with a rounded toe, but I have held the two side side by and the pattern looks different.

Also, anyone know of a Sakic with a flatter rocker? I think that's why I prefer the Getzlaf to all my Sakic's.

Warrior Vanek - Bauer P89 not quite square toe, a little less loft, much less rocker

Bauer P72 fat rounded toe, deep heel, decent loft

Warrior's Kopitar curve is pretty close to the Getzlaf/Lidstrom. It has a rounded toe instead of square and is just a hair shorter in blade length...I use both the Kopitar and the Lidstrom...very similar to one another

See above post, the Kopitar is a very similar curve just with a round toe.

i think the retail kopitar pattern is more of a sakic/backstrom/hall clone? mid toe that flares open with a decent rocker? getzlar/lidstrom/p02 or kessler is a heel that opens up with much less of a rocker.

I own both curves and they are very similar. I beleive the kopitar is a mid-heel curve and the lidstrom is a heel curve...same curve depth, different toe...but seeing as I own both warrior patterns...I promise you they are very similar.

same open face as well

Mind you Im saying 'similar' not 'exactly the same' which was the OP's original question

I've been using a Draper/Sakic/kopitar for awhile now. The Getzlaf while different was close enough (deep curve, open toe with plenty of loft) to get me to give it a try. So I completely understand what you are getting at.

Might want to give a look to the P106.

CCM calls their Getzlaf/Lidstrom curve the Burns curve.

But it doesn't look like CCM is making that curve in any of the new stick lines they have. And I'm seeing that I most of the lines. I can't afford 250 or even 200 bones for a stick because its the only model the curve I want comes with.

I think we're at a point where a lot of kids to young adults have grown up using pretty much either a retail sakic or modano or their equivalents. It's not like back in the days of wood sticks and replacement blades when it didn't cost as much to offer as many SKU's and players were more able to experiment w/ new curves due to the lower price of wood products.

Back when I was learning on the streets everyone had a logo stick with a have bc that's all the big box stores stocked for $20 to ruin on the streets. When we started our roller leagues everyone had a 2 piece and picked a curve of the player they liked the most. the entitled players would use their broken first gen synergies and flip them and put in a koho jagr curve and use it outside.
