Cosmic 178 Report post Posted June 9, 2015 Does anyone have any recommendations for a comfortable protective cup, to insert into the Warrior Dynasty girdle, that I plan to begin wearing? I have been using the Shock Doctor Ultra Carbon flex cup with the padded SD jock pants, and then I more recently I have been using the Mueller cup that comes with the Bauer padded jock pants. I find both of these cups to be horribly uncomfortable and anatomically incorrect (as I find all cups to be). I mean, should not a cup have more room at the bottom, for the berries, and then be more narrow toward the top, to accommodate the twig reaching toward the heavens? I do not understand why the tops of protective cups have so much volume, and the bottoms are so narrow.I was reading this:http://www.wikihow.com/Choose-and-Wear-a-Protective-Cup-for-SportsAt point #2, it says place the berries at the bottom, narrow end. Why should I have to cram them in there? They inevitably seem to find their way out, when forced into such a constricted space. I cannot imagine what a slap shot to a cup would feel like, and the ensuing swelling that would incur, after having had the berries smashed in such an unfavorable position. At point #3, it says that the twig should face down? How the heck can anyone play sports like this? When I used to play basketball, I always wore compression briefs, twig facing up. I do not know. I know this sounds ridiculous, but I am actually serious. I have to adjust myself before nearly every shift, to get everything properly organized and comfortable enough down there, and even then, it is not ideal. I hope to find a cup that just keeps everything properly sorted for me (wider at the bottom, then narrow as you move up).I tried wearing my cup upside down. This actually worked, sort of, except that the "new top" digs into my lower abdomen region, and if I were to take a hard shot to the cup, then I do not think that having the "new top" of the cup hitting my lower abs hard like this, would be good.I know about the Nutty Buddy, but who the heck has a package shaped like that? When I see that, I always think of the scene in Total Recall with the woman with three breasts. Anyway, I am curious if anyone else has similar issues, but has been holding back, as talking about such details in the company of hundreds of men is not exactly my idea of a good time. But, it is a serious issue in comfort and protection, and I am hoping someone has the product that has solved this issue. (If not, then perhaps Erik can call Lars!!) LoneStar77 25 Report post Posted June 9, 2015 I believe the cup is shaped the way it is to facilitate movement as the skinny part fits down between your legs with the wider part up at the waist. I used to hate wearing them, I didn't wear one for lacrosse back in high school...& then I took a shot from an opposing forward right up on the inner thigh. I went down like a ton of bricks & bought a cup the next day. The compression short ones are all I have worn for hockey (minus the one built into my inline hockey girdle) & I actually find them to be fairly comfortable as long as I get the cup in straight. Currently I am wearing an UA compression short jock (the one with the X-wrap), but I also have a plain UA compression short jock, & a Shock Doctor with the extra pads built into it. I like them all, the Shock Doctor Ultra Carbon Flex Cup does seem to fit better in the Shock Doctor compression shorts, but it works in the UA ones (I got the UA stuff at the outlet for a song, but no cups came with them). Just my 2 cents.
SlaterC42 51 Report post Posted June 9, 2015 I've been using the Shock Doctor titan alloy flex cup for a few years and am pretty happy with it.http://www.icewarehouse.com/descpage.html?pcode=SH203While all cups can seem uncomfortable from time to time, this one seems to fit pretty good. I'm sure the protection is over kill for beer league, but what's more important than your boys.
Stewie 721 Report post Posted June 9, 2015 my personal favorite cup is the one my nutt hutt shorts came with. I cant use the Mueller ones, and the shock doctor flex one I have can get uncomfortable as well, but its more tolerable. I put the nutt hutt in my bauer shorts and ive been happy with the results. start_today 773 Report post Posted June 10, 2015 Last month someone posted a how-to video for how to tape your socks. Now a step by step guide for putting on a jock strap. Maybe you guys need to start bringing your dad into the locker room and having him dress you.
JSK81 400 Report post Posted June 10, 2015 Reebok 8K/10K / CCM Pro jocks are comfy, protective and wide enough.
Caihlen 67 Report post Posted June 10, 2015 Shock doctors carbon flex jobs both in my hockey girdle and in shock doctor compression shorts for lacrosse and hocky both....comfy and effective. Never skimp on cups or helmets. Gotta protect the big head and the little head.
gosinger 122 Report post Posted June 11, 2015 Reebok 8K/10K / CCM Pro jocks are comfy, protective and wide enough. This, the shape in those (as-well as the Jofa 830 which they are based on) is unique and awesome, I've never felt more comfortable in any other cup. No annoying tight slimming-down lower end but rather a nice cradle that protects without crushing. Btw, the versions with exposed plastic and removeable belt (8k, Jofa 830) fit well inside the designated pockets of both my Alkali roller girdle as-well as my Warrior Project girdle. Cosmic 178 Report post Posted June 13, 2015 1) Just stumbled on this, the Diamond MMA:http://www.diamondmma.com/collections/products/products/copy-of-diamond-high-performance-cup-2Joe Rogan endorses it, sure he is sponsored by them, but he seems to sincerely appreciate this piece of hardware for his training. Has anyone tried it, or heard anything about it? I wonder how the shape will fit into a girdle.2) Also, will the cup itself, from this Reebok 10K fit into a girdle, if I cut it out of its jock strap?:http://www.ebay.com/itm/111678979277?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&fromMakeTrack=true2a) This jock seems sketchy, as is. I mean, is the cup removable for rinsing, and then the container good to go into the washing machine? If it is not detachable, then how does one deal with the funk buildup? If I can cut the cup out itself though and use it as a standalone in my girdle, and just throw away the container, then this is a moot point anyway.
JSK81 400 Report post Posted June 13, 2015 Why should you be able to remove the plastic for washing? Just throw the whole thing in a washing machine, that's what I've always done with mine.

Cosmic 178 Report post Posted June 15, 2015 Do you know if there's a jock/garter combo version of it available in the U.S. or is only a Europe thing?Europe only.Looks like it is coming from Europe, but shipping seems reasonable:http://www.ebay.com/itm/REEBOK10K-PRO-JOCK-STRAP-COMBO-GARTER-BELT-NEW-/161718931054?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item25a7330e6eUPDATE: I ended up grabbing a Reebok 10K jock, without the garters (I like my base layer with the velcro), as well as the Diamond MMA cup. So, we will see how I like each. Thanks for the feedback on the RBK/ Jofa cups.
JSK81 400 Report post Posted June 16, 2015 No wonder the shipping is reasonable, the jock costs about 25 euros here...

Cosmic 178 Report post Posted June 26, 2015 I used the Diamond MMA cup inside my base layer tonight for a 1.5 hour pickup sesh. For the first time ever, I did not need to adjust myself every five minutes. Actually never once thought of it, nor did I need to adjust, at any point in the night. mrwizardno2 0 Report post Posted July 6, 2015 I've been using a Nutty Buddy in my Bauer NG jock pants. The original cup was garbage, but like Cosmic said - I don't even think about it anymore. No more pinching the dangly bits with a poorly fitting cup.
