Breaking In Gloves

Recommended Posts

Well I just got my TPS HGT gloves today, and they are pretty stiff, does anyone know a better way to break them in besides just wearing them? I would like to wear them tonight, but if they are too stiff, I'll wear my Eagles

I had the same problem when I got my TPS HGT gloves, I have worn them a few times and they are easier to manuever each time but they still aren't broken in and I still regularly use my Bauer 5000s instead, hopefully some good tips come along because I would like to retire my 5000s in favor of my HGTs

Yeah, I really really like the feel of my HGT's, and I wanna wear them tonight, but they seem a little too stiff, so I may be forced to wear the X70i's, I wanna know if anyone knows how to break em in easier, it would be a HUGE help! :D

I remember when I got my gloves they were stiff as hell. I simply put the gloves on, grabbed onto my bed frame and left them on there. Surprisingly they werent as stiff.

mine were very stiff. Take the fingers and just bend them around and move them alot. It sucks with the plastic inserts tho maybe there is a way to put them in the oven because i kno you could do that with 2002 z-airs and it helped a ton.

Mash them around every way you can. Bend the fingers backward so they touch the cuff. Fold the glove in half so the palm disappears. Even lay them on the floor and stand on them. The more you smash your gloves, the more comfortable they'll feel. Baking helps also. You're basically just trying to soften the foams up a little.

Yeah I did what you said joshy207, and i was able to use them last night, too bad we lost the championship game of our Christmas tourney, but back on topic, bending them and mashing them worked

I think you need a convection oven. Does your oven have a convection setting or something? You could always just use a heat gun on it for a minute or two. Thats what I did will my Mission gloves while back. Its seemed to feel a bit better.

There's this place called a hockey shop. Most of them have skate ovens. If you buy most of your stuff from them, they usually go out of their way to help you out.

All you have to do is ask them if they can put your gloves in the oven for 6 minutes. The worst thing that they can say is no.

I could make a really bad joke but I will refrain.

If you have a convection oven at home (not gas) you can do it at home. Just don't do what my boy Skinny did...his blocker had grill marks on it...

I just flexed the fingers a lot on mine, they seemed to be pretty good after a bit of that and about 20mins of shooting around.

so, im back from school and just tested the gloves.

i put them on a pipe (which is a bit bigger than our handrails in our house) and now the thumb is a bit separated from the 4 fingers which is cool. this was my prob, not the stiff fingers.

big thanks @ JCYC5 !
