tape

Recommended Posts

Howie's used to offer tape with pinked edges. I saw it in a soccer store for shin tape. I found it odd they did not use vinyl / clear tape. Sales guy said it was a soccer rule it had to match the socks. They had a bunch of colors in the cloth. I assume they still offer it.

thx ...is renfrew a hockey company or is it a by product of a company outside of hockey ??

heres the story: http://www.scapa.com/en/RenfrewTape/about-renfrew.php

and heres where you can get it for 2.75 a roll: http://www.prostockhockey.com/tape-accessories/

maybe a better deal if you call them and tell them how much you need

On a related note,

Does anybody know where to pick up splits tape for butt ends and candy cane style grips? I don't the exact size of it maybe like 1/4"?

Canadian store would be preferred but beggars can't be choosers....

I just split a 1" roll to whatever desired thickness I'm looking for, works great.

I read the article.

I hoped to read something good. Renfrew is a tape I avoid...It just gets burned out/ through way too easily. So I Skip it as much as possible. I prefer Comp-O-Stik or Howie's...Tron is not bad. There are a few others out there that really hold up well (seen on others sticks, but can tell you...ITS NOT Renfrew).

My advice is look for another brand than Renfrew.

My kid has been using the IW tape (the Ice Warehouse logo tape) its Renfrew...which I hate, but it has just enough Black to the white to it...so I like the way it dirtys the White tape, but it needs to wear longer.

I looked...Howies does sell Pinked tape...BUT

It's not sold under Howies Hockey...Its Howiessoccer.com

I just ordered some tape from Hockey Players Club which is the Sports Tape brand (and the best brand I've used so far) and it has serrated edges for easy tearing. May want to give them a look. I agree with the others, Renfrew is not a good quality tape and wears out way too fast.

String King lacrosse makes a cloth tape 3 cm wide that is precut into 2cm and 1cm width. Give it a try.

its hockey tape ......

I bought into the whole Howies thing and they are good at one thing....Marketing

all of their tape is comparable to everything else out there - one side is sticky, and will keep your socks on your shin guars, or on your stick

Have you used Renfrew? The last time I used Renfrew, it wore through very quickly and the black Renfrew lost its color almost immediately and wore thin. I was all about Howies until I used the Sports Tape brand and that is my go to tape now, especially with it having serrated edges from Hockey Players Club. I always used scissors when taping my stick and now it tears with little effort and I only have to use scissors to trim around the toe.
